Step down crash
Cased it, over the bars, pain. This is what you get for biting off more than you can chew on a hardtail...

You make some fair points. Looking at it, i shouldve been further back, but once i cased it i knew there wasnt really any way of rescuing it. I just wasn't going fast enough

haha the first two times i did that i did in the wet and did exactly the same thing but i have back suspension so all i did was a bit of a feet off stem shag. Doing it on a hardtail takes balls and it pays off because you get tons more skills than people on full sus.

Perfectly doable on a hardtail and as you say you've done it before.Technique has to be spot on with the bike you were riding and the way it is set up(saddle height, clipped in,amount of front fork travel, bar width height etc )
If you get it just a little wrong it all goes pear shaped as you found out rather painfully! On a full suss skill compensator you might have got away with it as your weight looked too far forward and your legs/knees didn't aborb the landing which was pretty tricky at the speed you were going.
Anyway that's enough of my ill informed b*ll*x and hats off to you for having big enough b*ll*ox in the first place for doing it, Respect,
