It was sick but the lighting ruined it for me. stuff like this needs to be shot at dusk, dawn, or overcast.

ya it is super hard! I face the same thing. the bestyou could do is adjust it in editing to even out the lighting and get rid of hotspots.

yup, and try and shoot as flat as possible. for the most part I think it didn't turn out too bad, but there was definitely spots on the trail that looked considerably worse than others.

in my opinion everything looks way better when the sun is shining on it, in this case i wouldn't expose as high, I would film it a little darker, I wouldn't always expose for the shade.

I'm quite the opposite, I love seeing as much detail as possible. Which is why I tried to expose midtones and shadows as opposed to exposing more into the highlights. To each their own.

I'm mostly for quality of the shot, lighting is just a bonus...
