what does your brake attach to?

it was a D.I.Y. brake just for this application. The cable pulled--via springs and a custom mount--two aluminum rods attached to each side of the rear ski. When the lever was pulled, the rods (in theory) dug into the snow, slowing my speed. Worked on hard packed (kinda). But turned out to be a waste and I removed it.
