The berm is there for emergencies when you go wide. You are glad it's there when you need it.

When you overshoot the hip and end up a bit wide, the berm just catches you and brings you back in (usually) instead of ending up in the bushes. That said, we do plan to make another complimentary berm on the other side of the roller for awesome S-bend transfer purposes.
