Ride Life Ride Gravity Edition - Jonathon Simonetti Redemption
This is my and Jonny's entry for the contest. He's looking for a redemption to get back up to Crankworx to get the trip he was trying to have when his injury occurred. He rides to push the limit, sadly this led to a crash which cost him his 2011 season. Full story/video can be found here: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Jonathon-Simonetti-Back-on-the-Bike-2012.html

if you cut a few inches off the top of the spine protector you can still slide down the neck brace as if the spine protector isn't even there.

Dude i'm pretty sure that a leatt brace didn't break your back if anything it helped you from being paralyzed for your life

im not starting an argument I'm simply saying that the neck brace fits better with a spine protector if you cut a couple inches off the top of it.

The Leatt brace did break his back because the back plate pushed into his back causing his vertebraes to break, however it did save his neck, serving its purpose as a neck brace.

@monkano I landed directly on top of my head and flipped forward. My helmet hit the back plate of my neck brace so hard that it dug into my back and shattered my vertabra, the one below it compressed just from the vertical impact on it. To keep this from happening again I bought an alpine stars brace which breaks before it can break your back but I don't run that anymore because I don't feel very comfortable while riding. We can all argue over this for as long as we want but the bottom line is I'm over neck braces for the time being

Also yes it did keep me from breaking my neck, I just wish it was the alpinestars one instead so that my neck would still be fine and so that my back wouldve had a better chance of not breaking

Alright now I understand and just so we're clear I'm so sorry for what happend to you and glad to see a recovery, but the Alpinestars Brace sounds like it would have been better for the type of crash you had.
