Think of skeggs as a giant bowl so no matter what you'll be climbing out only one side is lower than the other... I recommend parking somewhere on star hill and climbing ecdm trail to skyline then from there almost any way down should be enjoyable. The climb out to Star Hill is much shorter and less intense than the climb out to Skyline
