How It's Made: Top Cap
Credit to Cam for filming, I did all lathe work. This is the v1 I made, I've completed v2 now. If you ever wanted to know how your top cap on your bike gets made, this is nothing similar. But enjoy.

Milling a top cap the old fashioned way. A CNC machine would do it in about 30 seconds.
The labour cost for your cap would put it about 200 bucks! Take some emery cloth or steel wool to it when its on the lathe bro.
By the way I luv one off hand machined stuff. I made a bunch of fly fishing reels on a lathe at home.

I sand it with about 500 grit on fast, 612 rpm. And the cost is still probably under 3$ for what I made ( considering the part I didn't use will be recycled because it's too short to hold onto). Thanks for the feedback, always nice to see other machinists out there.

Oh shit no I don't own this haha this lathe is like 8 grand I think my teacher said, the cutter is about 6-10 grand new, plus mills, welding stuff, CNC machines etc. No way I could afford it.
