Great Days - Chile Part 2 - Questioning your Limits

A bit of a warning, part two of this three part series gets a little gory as the Smith team pushes through the final stages of the Andes Pacifico Enduro race.

 "tis but a flesh wound!"

Gotta love it when a girl doesn't hesitate to take her shirt off. Ideal riding partner

 ha yes

She was all business. Pretty rad chick! much more helpful than; screaming, turning white, then passing out. Atta girl.

" i like enduro because you take your bike to the top of a mountain and ride down with your buddies" so it's like downhill, and every other kind of mtbing for that matter.

Ugh definitely know the pain of a wound like that!
*not for the faint of heart*

I'd venture to say the worst part of it was when they're actually cleaning it out. Rubbing the swabs in and around the area, squirting the saline in it flush everything out. By that time any adrenaline has worn off. Awful.

Yup...I'm glad I was unconscious for that. They told me they took the equivalent to a Brillo pass to it...makes me cringe just thinking about it!

The first thing I always think of in an emergency is to "take my shirt off."
  • + 6
It is actually a good reaction, depending on the injury...with leg ones like that, it's necessary, well it was in my case I suppose. Had to use it to keep my leg parts together while my buddies helped me down the mountain. Also had to use 2 of theirs and a shin guard on top of that...

Good god just nearly passed out. Only the shirt removal saved me

There goes my breakfast all over the table.

If only Smith Optics made knee pads...

  • + 3
Take the pain, Take the pain! Take it like a man!
  • + 2
Soft pads in the bin, hard shells on order! Screw that man, fair play glad you're ok
  • + 2
Girls taking their tops off is Enduro? Maybe this Enduro isn't that bad after all!
  • + 2
You got yourself pretty good there Broey. Glad you're ok though
  • + 3
 Give blood ride mtb's
  • + 2
Enduro specific band-aid would have worked fine!
  • + 3
 That was pretty enduro
  • + 1
Exactly the same happened to me on Goats Gulley, hard shell shin pads all day long for me now!

calm the fuck down mate. its not that bad. when i get hurt i either shout some swear words for a few seconds if its just a bit of pain. but if its more serious i go silent and use my mind to deal with the pain.
  • + 1

  • + 0
 well that was rather minging

Wouldn't it be better to keep the kneepad on to limit the bloodflow?
