well yes, its a sudden stop and it will naturally send you in a forward motion because the bike becomes stationary but you do not. EVERYTHING that is slowed down drastically will make you do this. a rear brake stops the rear wheel and the front wheel might spin once as the front wheel catches up to it. A front break will give you more forward motion as the rear wheel wont have any time to catch up to it (as you are traveling in a forward motion) and therefore will throw way more force forward and therefore flip you forward. (if you still dont get this, get on your bike and go at about 15 mph sitting down, and hit the rear brake, then again at 15 mph sitting down and hit the front brake.) i guarantee you that you will be forced forward more.

Back brake = skid and slower stop.
Front brake = over your handle bars, and fast stop. Resulting in Frontflip.
Back brake = useless.
