The year already seems charged with promise as sunshine and balmy weather have brightened the majority of our days. As good fortune would have it, we stumbled upon this little known riding spot in Los Olivos, CA hosted by the S.G. Dirt Club.

Cows lull off in the distance as mile after mile of barbed wire fence stretches as far as the eye can see, sporadically dividing acres upon acres of pasture throughout the rolling hills.

Single track threads it's way throughout the countryside and mellow All-Mountain and Cross-Country trails guided us through the knolls and valleys of the coastal foothills.

The flowing trails, tall, sweeping grass and sunshine will put a smile on anyone's face. Be warned though, these California cows leave behind the perfect recipe for an unsavory disaster: cow pies!!

Los Olivos is an ideal place to spend one of the weekend days exploring on your all-mountain bike. The beginner friendly trails provide a welcoming atmosphere for the entire family.

Just a short jaunt north lies San Luis Obispo, a town crawling with college kids, flashy cars and hip downtown eats and shops.

Groves of eucalyptus trees harbor wooden features and hard pack dirt, offering variation from the many rocky descents found in the area.

From jagged, loose, rock-laden paths with sweeping ocean views, to California's staple manzanita shrubs adorning the mountain side trails, San Luis Obispo provided some unrivaled backdrops and entertaining rides.

Needless to say, we soaked up as much golden sunshine and ocean breezes as we could before saying farewell to the Northern portion of Southern California's coastline.

If you're Thomas Vanderham, then gravity chases you.

great riding area, and great nightlife in Downtown SLO. If you're still in the area, you don't need a license to pier fish. Hit the pier in Avila Beach, not far from there. Used to catch a bit of cod and perch there, along with a great tan.

What legal dh or am trails can you recommend ? We are always looking for new legal places to ride and film.

That seems to be the prevailing attitude in the SoCal/NorCal (really central.) Scoffs and smirks. Ask for a good ride and everyone becomes tight-lipped. Come to Moab; if you can ride it, someone will happily show you a great new trail.
PS: I enjoyed the video, as always.

I'm glad you found these gems here in slo. That is what these trails are here for, to enjoy!

yeah Morning Glory and the Eucs aren't the best, but for someone who hasn't ridden it and is looking for an adventure and just to have a good time, its perfect! MG has great views, it's a pretty "diverse" trail, and the eucs are a nice little gem that just needs time to expand and get better. If you guys are ever back down in slo, try to find some locals at the bike shops, we're all pretty friendly and love riding with new people and love trying to scare the shit out of you with our rocky steep trails haha

Seriously? There are about a half dozen xc/am/dh trails in SB that never ever get filmed. Anything in the back country. Then there's romero, SY, many others in Monticeto. Jesusita, in SB and about as many in SLO. None of those ever get filmed really. Only Tunnel, CS, and Knapps I have seen in any professional/high production value film. Last time I checked only 2-3 of the dh trails in SLO are actually illegal.

Why are you so angry? Do you even know what we do? We're just two people traveling North America having a good time trying to film all the fun places we come across to share with others. I dont understand the need to criticize and complain about what we do, when we are doing all that we can do, being only two people with a limited budget of our own savings.

Oh and please enjoy m.pinkbike.com/video/204117 where we visited Santa Barbara.
Sorry you don't like what we do, I hope riding your bike makes you feel better.
