Official dates for the 2011 FMB World Tour are set

Feb 14, 2011
by rasoulution
With only a few weeks to go until the Freeride Mountain Bike (FMB) World Tour kicks off with the Vienna Air King, the FMBA is now ready to announce the FMB World Tour event calendar. After a thoroughly successful first season in 2010, the FMB World Tour is prepared and ready to start the new season. As was to be expected, event applications were plentiful and the FMBA is happy to announce that this year’s World Tour will have even more events at which riders can collect vital points for their overall ranking. All in all, 21 events in Europe and North America are taking part in the upcoming tour with the diamond and gold events being equally distributed between the two continents. One of the tour’s highlights is without doubt the final event in Nuremberg. The much awaited Red Bull District Ride is coming back after a five-year break and represents a more than worthy final and occasion for the crowning of the FMB World Tour Champion.
This is the 2011 FMB World Tour calendar:

21 events set

The registered riders will be able to collect points at every event. How many points is determined by the event’s category and, of course, the rider’s result. As opposed to last year, when riders could take the points from their top four events to the ranking, this year, the rider’s five best event results count. Events are divided into bronze, silver, gold and diamond categories depending on a number of criteria such as difficulty level, course design, prize money and judging. Points will only count if the rider is a registered member of the FMBA – so if you want your results to count towards the overall FMB World Tour ranking don’t forget to register before the tour’s first event: Vienna Air King on April 2nd and 3rd in Austria at http://fmbworldtour.com/2010/member/
If you are not a rider but want to support the FMBA in their efforts to bring the freeride mountain bike sport to the next level, become a member and just follow the same link above.

The FMB World Tour is happy to begin the new season with strong partners and thanks TSG, Specialized and SR Suntour for their support. For more information on the FMB World Tour partners go to

They need this many WC rounds for downhill.... It'd be awesome.

 wheres red bull rampage????
  • 5 0
 rampage is every other year
  • 5 0
yeah but if they had this many races on the WC circuit then the riders would have to do a race like every three days or so... and that's nearly impossible with all the training and practice needed...

shame we don't get any rounds here in the UK..
  • 3 6
shame the entire west coast of us/canada doesn't have enough comps

 Kokanee Crankworx @ Whistler
Jump Ship @ Victoria
Bearclaw Invitational @ Mt Washington
Goatstyle @ Creston Kinda West Coast

I would say that is a pretty good venue for the West Coast. Doesn't look so bright for the UK though.

I'm kinda surprised about the lack of UK rounds considering there are quite a few UK riders on the tour?

pbrider. true, but most of those comps are invite only. only one is goatstyle for all i know

p-gore: Sorry bout that didn't know you were talking about competing. I plan whitewater comps annually and folks commonly complain about the lack of venues and or times and locations. The usual response is "Plan one yourself", not to be rude but it takes an insane amount of work to get these types of things rolling and what we need is more people planning and doing not just wanting to participate or watch.

crankworx colorado and ranchstyle in colorado thats west coastISH

Yea weve got all the events pbrider listed, but that is BC, not really the majority of the west coast. We need more comps in CA, especially NorCal. I'm super happy about AT's Showdown and Sea Otter, but Norcal doesnt get the coverage it deserves. It is the Birthplace of MTB.

....I'm an Old Koot.... Goatstyle's moved from Creston to Silver Star in Vernon.... Bigger Venue, growin' up! The Goats will always be Creston, though....

 schedule looks great.
That the Red Bull District Ride is coming back and filling the 2011 lack of the rampage is great. It is the only worthy final for the FMB World Tour, as long as Rampage is not on. Would be great if they can make District Ride the final in 2013 again, after Rampage hopefully comes back in 2012 and 2014.
Only bummer is the date of Crankworx and Big in Bavaria, why did Crankworx leave their date in August?? Anyone knows the reason?
