Oakley is one of the leaders in the eyeglass industry, heck they even make bullet proof goggles for SWAT squads and police teams. When we heard that Oakley had started doing a custom program we decided that it would be the perfect excuse for us to pick up some new glasses. Have a look inside to see Jordan's custom lifestyle orientated Jupiter glasses and Mike's tailor-made for riding Jawbone!

Oakley Custom Eye Wear

Doing custom anything is probably the best promotion that a company can do. Not only are the customers providing you with very specific information about what colors they like and which ones work well together on that article, but they are still representing your brand while getting to feel like they have a one-off item made just for them. And who doesn't like custom stuff? When you think about it, there really aren't that many things in your day to day life that you can have made just for you (without winning the lottery that is). Thankfully now your Oakly shades are one of them!

Oakley's online custom glasses program is easy to use and gives you a preview of what the final product will look like every time you make a change

When we received the news that Oakley had launched their own custom glasses program we were stoked! Without any hesitation we had our own custom glasses designed and on the way! The website used for designing the glasses is simple beyond belief. To start you can choose either sunglasses, goggles, or watches, and each option has multiple choices. A couple drop down bars to define what you can change, and some simple images describe the color of choice. Changes made are updated automatically as you make them on the glasses' preview window. The choices are well labeled and include some great color schemes. Oakley also offers custom text etching for an addition $30 so you can get your name or company named etched right into the lens. Mike and I decided to represent by getting Pinkbike etched into the lower portion of one lens each. I decided to go with the lifestyle orientated Jupiter glasses to protect my eyes on the bright days, while Mike went for the Jawbone with interchangeable lenses for riding. After all was said and done we received a discreetly labeled Oakley box that we both tore into like animals without regard to each other's safety or well being. Out came our new glasses, complete with protective cases. The finished product looked just like we had seen 2 weeks earlier on the computer screen as we ordered them.

bigquotesThe Oakley Custom program worked awesome and flawlessly. It was super simple to get my glasses designed and figured out online and the glasses look great! Laser etching on the lens looks great and does not appear in my peripheral vision. Plus my girl says I look hot in them, what else could I ask for? - Jordan Holmes

bigquotesOnce I had decided on the colors that I wanted, it took only minutes to use Oakley's custom ordering system to get the ball rolling. I have no shame admitting that I love it when my kit is matching, so I like the fact that there are lots of color options to get it just right. The Jawbones make great riding glasses and are robust enough to survive being in my hydration pack when not in use. - Mike Levy

I was looking at getting the flak jacket, also interchangeable. It would be nice if they offered two alternate lenses rather then just one through the custom form. I'd like black iridium, G20 and high yellow. The high yellow is good on dark days and snowy ski touring days. Going through the order for one alternate lens was easy and cool. They also have a feature where you can look at different photo's with the different lens colour options.

anyone knows if i can put prescription lenses on Mike's Oakley Jawbone glasses, or other kinds of riding glasses from Oakley??

Anyone from Oakley want to give me a Command Bunker pump track tour?

-Timyoo I am pretty sure there are ways of getting prescription RX clear vented jawbone lenses. You would need to go to a shop that caries Oakley RX, and have them special order it for you.

lol seriously? I hate to say it but "cheapy" glasses blow. The lenses suck, and give people with sensitive eyes headaches from the inconsistent lenses.

ALso, our oakleys are LIFETIME. You brake an oakley frame... you get a new one. Period. There lenses are ansi certified, and lenses are literally bulletproof. My friend had a piece of shraptnal from an IED hit him in the lens, lets just say he wouldn't have his eye if it weren't for the oakleys he was wearing. Ever see a lens shot by 12g buck shot shells, ask the oakley reps... they will happily show you.

Basically, for 200.... your getting the strongest most dependable glasses on this earth. I think your eyes are worth that... don't you? (ever been hit in the face by tree branches? It's amazing at how many scratches my lenses accumulate from riding alone... to think each scratch takes a damn good amount of impact on oakleys... my eyes would be jacked if I were wearing my spy's etc.

btw, it's the same principal for people buying cheap ass auto changing welding lenses in order to save money. Little do they know the reaction time burns their eyes and it's noticable after a day. Somethings it's best to spend some good coin on. Body armor, helmets, glasses, etc. Anything safety is always worth the extra coin.
