Vancouver Bike Show 2015

Many cyclists from British Columbia feel that they're pretty fortunate to ride in a place that recognizes cycling as a great way of life. Mountain bikers, roadies, commuters, bmx'ers, and all west coast cyclists share more than dirt and pavement. There is history here, an established community that includes riders, advocates, artists, and bike industry workers that have cranked out some world class riders and technologies. Although the Vancouver Bike Show is a smaller, more casual affair, many of those folks showed up to this weekend to chat with old friends and show the general public what they're all about.

"The battery is carried by the rider"

My battery is in my legs.

Absolute waste of time! The only bike companies there were Rocky, Marin, and Xpezo. Everything else were clearance spandex sales, bike sales, subscription booths, E-Bikes (full-on E-bikes, none of the pedal assisted ones) and generally uninterested representatives. Took me 5 minutes to do a full lap and there was nothing else to see. No free swag, no stickers, just people trying to sell you things you seriously don't need. Never coming back until the person in charge does something differently.

So true waste of $15 and 2 hours of travel time

Wow, sounds just like our Toronto bike show last weekend, 15 bucks to get in and nothin but road bikes, hardtail 29ers, and a few trail rigs at msrp or above.
  • 4 1
Mountain biking was very poorly represented at this event. pretty pathetic for being in Van BC.

I got in for free and I still felt robbed. Could have gone and rode CGP
  • 2 1
So true I took the day off there to get parts for my bike and no one had the parts I needed and ZM cycle had stuff but it was way over priced total waste of my day

I want to be 5 years-old again and have one of those First Bike sled/ski balance bikes! It's 2015, let's have that time machine going; chop chop!

Also in before verbal violence concerning the Kranked e-bike kit.

I have to agree with most of these comments! We paid good money to come to this show to represent our small business which offers fully legit mountain bike vacations, guided tours, lessons and shuttle services in Revelstoke BC. We couldn't get into the bike show side because it was full but we were only one row away in the outdoor adventure side. While we did meet and chat with some great people, we also had promises of 20000 people in attendance. I would guess there were maybe half of that over the weekend, barely any of whom were actual mountain bikers. Where was the rest of the biking industry? Ebikes, commuters and spandex were represented here more than mountain biking! Will not be spending my hard earned money for a booth here next year!

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear that. I don't remember seeing your booth (really shows how dominant the outdoor show as over the bike show), but the only thing I can say is I'm sincerely sorry for investing in such a promising event (on paper). Minus the big boys with plenty of money to invest in these events, I sort of pity the smaller players that are genuinely stoked for these events but end up with the shit end of the stick in terms of attendance, placement, and etc.

Sorry I couldn't find your booth, I would have been interested in talking to you guys about REAL mountain biking and coming up to Revelstoke for some biking in the summer.

Cheers man, hope things improve in the future.

Sorry correction, pick another brand of bikes to power up,it's early in the morning but this got me kranked. I worked the T dot bike show this weekend and all I saw was battery powered fatbikes, hybrids and so on, like I said just all kranked up after I saw this.

Man people really hate what they don't understand......that kit on the Santa Cruz is awesome! When you try one it'll change your world upside down!
  • 1 1
What's not to understand? You clamp an electric motor on a carbon fibre tube... A $3000 carbon fibre tube...What could go wrong?

Wish I had the time and money to get Vancouver an International Bicycle Show. Great work to the people who came out, but IMO this show is a little 'small town' for Vancouver.

The "Bike Show"...or whatever you really want to call it...definitely left me wanting this year. The change of venue was a disappointment and I am guessing that could be a reason for the lack of showing from the different manufactures. While Canada Place is a nice venue in general, it just doesn't seem to be the right place for the Outdoor/Bike Show. In the past, there was usually a strong showing from bike companies with tons local bike shops in tow, selling discounted gear and parts. There was really little of that this year. I hope that this was an one-of bad showing and not a start of a decline.

This would probably never going to happen but I really hope that they get the show back into BC Place.

Went last year, had a great time catching up with some peeps but the show itself wasn't that good. Looks like I didn't miss much this year. Sad... This show could've been made so much better. My first year going, I thought it was going to be something like Interbike, but it doesn't even come close
  • 2 0
Ha, I showed up to jump with the kids as well. In fact, my son filmed a bunch of my air bag shenanigans.

It was a waste of time this year. Got a good deal on a tent and sleeping bag. Spent more time looking at that than the whole bike show combined. All Ebike crap and no MTB parts or apparel. Will not be returing next year.

What happened to the old days when the bike show was at BC place? And didn't suck? Not sure why Vanvouver can't put on a decent bike show.....

I really liked the ''Bikeroom" booth, professional, even for kids. did a very good job!
  • 3 3
I agree with trailster2danman, pick another brand to power up a bike, but leave Santa Cruz bikes out, especially the v10
