BikePark Wales are delighted to announce a new partnership with ENVE Composites via exclusive UK distributor Saddleback to become Europe’s only ENVE demo centre. The new partnership will see a complete set of ENVE demo wheels in 26”, 27.5” and 29” available for potential customers to trial on the great trails at BikePark Wales.

Ash Matthews UK ENVE Brand Manager commented:

"This partnership with BikePark Wales is a great opportunity for ENVE. We’ve been fans of what they are doing at the park since day one. As both a sponsor of the park and a demo partner we have a great opportunity for our customers to test our products on some of the best trails in the UK. Purchasing a set of ENVE wheels is not something you do every day and we want our customers to be sure they have chosen the perfect product for their riding style. The demo centre at BPW will allow customers to try multiple wheels on their own bike allowing them to be sure they have made the right choice."

Visitors to BikePark Wales will be able to pre-book the ENVE wheels they wish to demo via a new online booking system which allows customers to select the date and wheelset they wish to test. The highly trained and experienced team at BPW will look after each demo customer on a one to one basis, fitting the wheels to their bike on arrival and keeping contact with them throughout the day. Customers wishing to experience more than one wheelset in order to cross compare before making a purchase are encouraged to do so at no additional fee.

Custom Enve decals for BikePark Wales

The fee to demo a set of ENVE wheels for a full day at BikePark Wales will be £70. This fee is fully refundable to any customers making an ENVE wheels purchase from BikePark Wales after the demo. BikePark Wales will be holding stock of popular ENVE wheel models.

Additionally, the existing FOX Demo Centre at BikePark Wales has been overhauled with the addition of a full range of FOX 34 and 36 forks in various wheel sizes and travel options as well as FOX Float Evol, Float X and X2 rear shocks to suit all popular bike models. The shop staff at BikePark Wales are all Mojo-trained and ready to offer excellent suspension advice. Suspension demo costs start at £50 which, like the ENVE programme is refundable with any purchase.

BikePark Wales director Martin Astley added:

"We are lucky enough to be working with some of the greatest brands in mountain biking here at BikePark Wales. FOX and Mojo have been with us since day one and we have been running a grass roots demo programme with them since we opened two years ago. Along with our fleet of flagship Trek rental bikes we already had a good demo offering. The addition of ENVE as both a sponsor of the park and a demo partner along with an expanded and improved demo stock from FOX and the new online booking system must surely make us one of, if not the best place in the UK to try before you buy."

ENVE belongs in the Surrey Hills.

Agreed, you want to run the m90 to cope with the extreme terrain there.

@richt2000 what you meant to say was "ENVE belongs in the Surrey Hills on a carbon bonson being pulled out of a Vdub T5"?
  • 7 0
To be fair, if I could afford them I'd probably have them. I'd definately remove the stickers though so you'd all still like me
:-)

 surrey has hills?

They are tiny but great @stooky !

 *insert penis joke here*

It's how you use them that counts, not the size...

Up and down, like a Yoyo !

If I seriously was thinking of buying these wheels I'd consider a demo for the day but if I didn't like them wouldn't expect to pay £70 to have tried them. It's not really a demo- it's rental and they cancel the bill if you spend thousands of pounds in their shop afterwards.
  • 2 1
I understand them charging as it limits it to people who are seriously considering it as an option rather than those who just fancy trying them out. £70 however is too much.

My LBS charges £70 to demo a 36 and I imagine BPW will be similar. I think that's too much considering most people will want try it out and make a comparison to a PIke. He high price almost forces them to buy it.

think of it the other way, if you were wanting to buy a set of these wheels and you spend £70 to find out you didn't like them, you've just saved thousands on buying a new set and finding out the same thing. Seems a pretty reasonable price to me!
  • 2 1
Sounds about right to me, eliminate the pro test pilots before or at the door, not when you've got ten set of wheels and a mountain of Welsh shit to clean off them.
  • 13 5
I'd be much happier with two days of uplifts than I would with riding some carbon wheels for a day! £70... Face palm
  • 6 0
People will be going there to seriously consider these wheels. Not to just rent them for the day
  • 5 3
The people who buy Enve either are pros who are sponsored (fair play)
or people with so much cash they wouldn't think twice about dropping £2k on the rims without even riding them. 1/2 of these people pay for the brand / logos on their wheels.

I bet blind tested 90% of riders wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Enve and something 1/2 the price like Roval fatties or even 1/4 price Superstar/LBs...

Saying that, I like what they did with the welsh dragon.
  • 5 3
Superstar carbon wheels come in a under 1/4 of the price on enve and you can get an enve sticker sheet off ebay for £7 giving you enough left over for around 50 days of uplift!
  • 4 0
Anyone maybe considered buying a decent wheelset at quarter the price, spending some of that money on proper riding tuition, and still have a heap of money left over. I mean I know these wheels are good in all but it's not going to transform your riding as much as getting your technique and riding confidence sorted. Meh I sound old!
  • 6 2
What absolute bullshit. It's not a Demo if you charge someone £70 for it that is called Hiring. I work in the motor industry and I don't charge someone £100 for test driving a car. Yes you will get time wasters but you have to take the rough with the smooth.
  • 7 0
£70 almost buys you a Light Bicycle carbon rim!
  • 2 5
and I bet you'd feel just as confident riding BPW on that right?

/S
  • 6 0
Yep. Have done many times. Mine are 2 years old now, never even needed trueing.
  • 1 1
Getting held up by all the slow people at BPW is not a particularly hard test for a set of wheels..
  • 2 0
I saw this a couple of days ago. My first thought was 'what happens if I brake a wheel?'

Obviously they are amazingly strong, but things happen, and someone testing a wheelset for £70, to then be lumped with that cost could be an issue. The same goes for the fork / shock rental. Will there be insurance for example, like you get when you rent a car?

Still a great idea!!
  • 2 0
 I suspect:

THE HIRER IS RESPONSIBLE for the bike and the equipment and will be liable for any loss or damage to the bike or equipment.
  • 1 0
Of course they are..... but my point was about insurance, as you can get with any car rental.....

Things happen, and parts do break. We all know that as mountain bikers. I'm sure (a lot of) people could afford the cost of rental, but the cost of compulsory purchase might be a little harder.
  • 8 0
I disagree. I think if you break a wheel it will be included in the seventy quid. It has to be. Not a very good advert or show of confidence otherwise is it?
  • 1 0
I imagine it will work the same as the rental bikes. You give card details and there's a minimum £250 charge for any damage.

I do agree though, there should be an insurance which could be purchased as an extra.
  • 1 0
Enve wheels have an "absolutely no questions asked" 5 year warranty, so I don't think you need to worry if you break it - they obviously think they're so strong they won't be handing out too many new sets.
  • 2 0
I've broken a full face which I rented from the BPW shop. Cost me the price of the helmet at trade which is fairly reasonable considering its a like for like replacement that they're not making any money off. I was more grateful for the fact that it could have ended a lot worse if I'd just gone for my trail lid!
  • 1 0
warranty dont cover crash damage or rider error.
  • 3 0
There should be an insurance policy damage waiver you can pay for. I did a single seater track day experience at Silverstone and more than happily paid the £20 damage waiver.
  • 2 0
 Jimwalters220 makes a good point!
Spending £70 to rent some ENVE wheels for a day is a bargain, imagine spending circa £2,500 on these wheels and actually realise that these wheels were too good for you or you just don't like them. This is a good idea, anyways if you feel the price is too much then just don't bother renting them out.
Gets the nod from me!
  • 5 2
how much will they charge you when you smash a rim after its been out 20 times already?
  • 1 0
 full rrp lol
  • 1 0
Couldn't believe it when I rented a battered remedy up there and when you sign the disclaimer your responsible for the battered up suspension..
  • 3 0
 Those water bottles look expensive
  • 1 1
The enve five year warranty only gaurentees you a crash replacement rim at about £400 cost in case of intrusive damage ,instead of full replacement in the case of rim failure .
  • 3 2
You cant even bend a brake lever without being charged for it at BPW, Hate to think if you totalled one of these rims!
  • 2 0
Did you damage a hired bike?
  • 2 0
If it was 69 instead of 70 quid, i'd do it.
  • 3 2
'Purchasing a set of ENVE wheels is not something you do every day' .....or in fact ever.....
  • 2 0
I was literally behind the camera when this was taken haha
  • 1 1
mojo trained but definitely not mojo quality!
  • 1 1
 70 quid ............ no thanks!
