The window of hope and sun light as you come in to land

Over the past 3-4 years I've stumbled into somewhat of a ritual, and I'm over joyed that I have. When the clocks go back, the British summer (very loose term) ends and everything gets even more depressing weather wise, I always seem to find myself sat on a sleazy jet flight to Malaga. It's not that it rains more at home over the winter, but more that the hope of it stopping disappears. It's for this reason that Spain comes out on top every year.

Malaga and the surrounding area are up there with the best places to go if you like riding bikes, cheap booze and have a strong dislike for rain. There are a few different companies down there, but the one I have been with for the last 2 years are RoostDH. It's key to have someone who knows the local area with you, the tracks are plentiful and varied, but they are all hidden, secret for the most part and not the kind of tracks you will find by just asking about.

Finding a guide is well worth it.

Once you have chosen your company/guide comes the heart of the holiday, the reason you went. the riding!

Below I have a selection of images from the last few trips I have had there, some more work than play, others were by far more play. Have a look, soak in the warm sun through the images, the smiles, good times, cuts, crashes and hangovers.

It's worth spending £500 going down there for a month over getting those new wheels. Shit wheels will still allow you to have a great week, good wheels on your local tracks won't be as much fun, I can guarantee you that!

The sunsets are worth it too.

Who are the two guys behind making this happen for you? Two of the soundest people I know and great riders alike (even if they do slip a pedal every now and again like everyone else) The guys behind RoostDH are:

For great trail riding Granada is only 90 minutes away, and is in the heart of the sierra Nevada mountains - I've been riding with Shawn from "ride sierra Nevada" for 2 years and its been epic, just arrived today with bike ready for a week of 3000m uplift everyday to the ski-resort and 35 miles of downhill trails. He's doing the megavalanche this year again so pre mega training it is!! Woop woop

i will have to check thompson out next time. ive noticed not only do prices vary loads so does to weight of the bike. jet2 will only allow you 20kg, where as others up to 30kg. im off to spain next month and not taking my bike as it would have cos £100 return, more than my seat!!!! the airlines need kicking up the arse.
