Video of the Month - October 2013

Nov 1, 2013 at 17:09
by Tyler Maine
Video of the Month is an article showcasing the best Videos of the Day that were uploaded the month before. We take the most viewed videos from the previous month, and pick our favorites out of the top 10.

As with the POM the way the VOM works is the photos are ranked by number of views in the month that they're uploaded. It has nothing to do with overall number of view, or when or if the video was VOD. So if you upload an video on September 30th, and it becomes VOD on October 10th, it may have a lot of views in October, but it's only eligible for Septembers VOM because that's when it was uploaded. This means that if you have a video (or a photo) that you think has a chance at VOM or POM you should upload it in the first few days of the month, and definitely not at the end of the month. With that said here are the most viewed videos that were uploaded in October...

each video should get a month. then they compete in the month they were uploaded. just lame that you should have to wait a few weeks to upload...

So stoked to have watched arrival on Friday night. It is sick, but it's way too short. And I would recommend not watching the behind the scenes just before watching it.

Totally agree with the pinner way2fast4u… Try to forget about the behind the scenes and then watch after

At 10, I didn't have the money to buy the bikes they are riding
  • 32 2
Erm, I am 32 and yet to ride a trail like that... pesky Canadians. I swear I'd be that good if I was raised in a log cabin in Whistler!

Im just going to keep telling myself hes only better cos hes got a better bike, nicer parents and bettert local trails than I do Big Grin

Doesn't matter that he's got a nice bike and lives near epic trails, that kid would rip on a Huffy in downtown LA if that's what was available. Talent is talent, and it's really cool to see a young kid starting on an MTB, it's the best way to keep progressing the sport.

yeah its sweet to live in a log cabin, but the downsides are the chores and waking up to mice in my sleeping bag haha but at least I can get out and shred in the sickest place in the world @billythegerbil

I was playing basketball everyday. And although I loved it, I wish I did more of that instead!

Seth, hats off to you buddy, fantastic to see such talent at ten years old. Look forward to seeing more of your videos as you keep on tanning people two or three times your age!

I wish I had a good bike at a young age but growing up with 4 siblings it was a no go till I got my own cash.
  • 13 2
I really hope kids like that will grow up to appreciate their parents supporting them financially and otherwise to make it so they can be doing stuff like that at 10. There is no way in hell my parents would shell out for a bike that nice, let alone let me keep riding if my mom saw me take a spill like that at the end.
  • 8 0
Agreed. I have to buy all my own gear and bikes. Be thankful if you have parents that will buy it for you.
  • 5 1
This is no different than parents buying their kids hockey/lacrosse/whatever gear and driving them all over the damn country for tournaments. Are we going to hate on every kid who plays amateur soccer or takes karate? Do you know how much it costs to take a kid snowboarding? This kid is a ripper, probably better than 95% of the people commenting on this website. His sport costs the same as any other kids sport. I've got nothing but appreciation for him.

Man, being a goalie and playing hockey cost me WAY more than mountain biking has. I actually gave up playing hockey to keep riding because once I had no financial help from my family it was just too damn expensive to do both.
  • 1 0
I'm not hating on him because his parents pay for his hobby, i'm just saying he should be thankful, not many parents would keep paying for bikes and parts when they see their kid eat it so many times

i can never get over how people have absolutly no judgement when they see something that is extraordinary. i use the word extraordinary to support how i think a 10 year old kid usually does not ride big like that. when i read the comments it's either 1-he got parent that can buy him Intense bikes, he live at the trail head in Whistler, of course he's a shreader! 2-talent is something you are born into, no mater what, he will be the next Steve Smith-Sam Hill-Brandon Semenuk and will over pass them by 100 folds. i mean, come on. Of course both are not true. How about, he works hard, he rides hard, he spends most of his time on the trails and keep at it. How about he gets inspired by older, more experianced riders. How about, he's a strong kid and by doing this he will keep getting stronger. how about...i really hope he's ok after that case at the end. nothing is ever set in stone, you get better if you ride, push and ride some more. Nothing comes easy and if you set your mind to it,, are willing to put some blood sweat and tears in it, you can ride big. When you are 10, you take a look around and play with what is out there. I doubt he would have learned how to ride like this he if you have been born in Brooklyn. nothing is ever black and white

Barred For Life #2!!! So much stoke. Definitely looks like it's gonna be worth the wait! Smile

And boy could that kid play pin ball
  • 3 1
Ha! Because that little dude is so little he makes his bike look like a 29er, only he made a 29er look good. He's gonna be one rad dude
  • 2 0
I'm highly impressed, but a little depressed to; heck I'm now pressed to ride harder and and push limits too. Props to whomever encouraged Seth to ride like this.
  • 2 0
You'll feel better about the first video if you imagine it's an adult riding a 29er.
  • 2 0
All rad edits. I really enjoyed #4 and #5. Made me want to go camp out at the trail so I could wake up first thing and shred
  • 5 3
This is my favourite time of the month.
  • 2 5
WHY? No lifts are open for dh!
  • 2 1
 False shredman, false...
  • 2 0
There's other ways to ride a bike than just DH. You're missing out on a lot of the sport if you only stick to one discipline man. As long as I'm on two wheels and out in the woods I'm happy.
  • 1 0
I'm with you man...DH is my favorite type of riding, but I do just about everything!
