Battle of the Princesses - Albstadt Women U23

Sunshine made for a welcome change after days of heavy rain and cloudy conditions. A blazing sun dried the course as the start of the women's U23 race got closer. Conditions remained treacherous, though, with a top section which remained wet. Although not one of the most technically demanding courses, ruts, limestone and eroded corners combined with high heart rates and a fair share of nerves always proves challenging.

After the first round in Cairns with only nine riders at the start, Albstadt hosted 59 riders. The Saturday would be all theirs as no other World Cup races were scheduled. Five laps, plus one start lap in summer-like conditions on a physically demanding course. It is time to commence racing in Europe.

It s all about preparations. Pit areas are full of riders warming up mechanics scrambling to get the lasts details in order and nervous team managers swarming about.

"Despite all of the rain the last few days, shade was much appreciated at the end of today's race." Try it here in Korea where it is 95 and 100% humidity (no such thing as shade).
But still, those ladies are banging fast!!!

XC Love? ... Damn with articles like this XC is getting more coverage than EWS and DHWC... Whats your new strategy PB?... I still remember the times it was hardly difficult to find no dual crown bikes here... I hope you help this people to integrate inside the gravity community... Riding droper post and full susp... If... I still will accept them like brothers anyway they still wearing lycra...

Sometimes you watch these reviews of these modern "short travel" (that is, five inch front and rear) trail bikes going "look what we can do on a short travel bike nowadays" when sections of this XC trail here looks just as tough. Good to know what PB actually means when they talk about XC whippet. In a way it is a bit of a disappointment to see them try to walk down that steep descend. Walking down is probably harder than riding down that. But I can imagine that once you're next to your bike (because of the que), have the saddle high and have clip pedals without platform, just getting on the bike might be the hardest part.
