Yea, it takes about 30-40 minutes to get there from Eureka. It's called red gate trail, it's about 1/4-1/2 mile past the post office on Kneeland. The trail head is on the left hand side of the road as you are driving up the hill just behind a brownish/red colored gate, there is room for one or two cars directly in front of the gate but I wouldn't park there, Green Diamond gets mad. If you make it to the rock quarry/ cut off for maple creek you gone too far, it's about 800 ft back the way you just came. Just as a heads up, Green Diamond had fell about 100 trees down the first 500 ft of trail or so, so I would go scout it out before just bombing down there on your bike. If you need better directions shoot me a message and I can send a link via google maps.

It's probably 50-50, with a big travel bike you will have to do some pushing. If you have a mid-travel bike you can ride the whole thing depending on your conditioning. In total it's about a 15 mile loop. It's not a super technical trail but it's still a blast, even on a big bike. It's located near Pollock Pines off of highway 50. If you just do a Google search for Jenkinson Lake Placerville CA, it should give you directions that are close. Once you get to pollock pines you can just keep going on the main road towards the lake until you hit either Mormon Emigrant Trail or Silver Lake Rd (not sure which one, I cant remember). Either way it's the first left after you pass the little gas station/store and you can only turn left onto this road. Once on that road a little ways down the road you'll cross the dam and the trail head will be off the the right maybe 100ft past the dam. There isn't a parking lot, just off the road parking. Once you're there just follow the trail out and it is pretty well marked. Just follow the trail signs. Watch out for equestrians and hikers, they have the right of way.
