Kona Bicycles' Parent Company Appoints New CFO, Intends to Sell Brand
@ethanrevitch: A ton of "smaller" brands are owned by big conglomerates. People hate on Trek and Specialized but they've managed to create long term success while remaining completely bike-focused and not selling out to private equity.

Review: 6 Months on the New Race Face Era Carbon Wheels
I sent my Atlas pedals back to them twice because the tolerances are so bad that the bearings wear out within a month or two of dry riding. It's cool that they send me a new pair but I don't even want to put the effort in to send them back again and deal with the warranty. So now they're sitting in a drawer and I've now learned for the 3rd time not to buy race face products with moving parts.

Video: Matthew Fairbrother in 'MTB vs Ultra-Runner - The Tour du Mont Blanc'
Pretty friggin impressive. Killian is probably the fastest man on earth at anything over 50 miles so even getting near him is amazing. I'm guessing if you trained at the level Killian does, you could beat his time relatively easily.

Review: Chromag Darco - A Very Big Little Bike
@chakaping: I went from a large 111 with a 480ish reach to a medium stumpy evo with a 450ish. Chainstays on the stumpy are 445 in the long setting. I'm 5'11" and always preferred smaller bikes but i bought into the Pinkbike driven size-up hype that happened several years back.

Review: Chromag Darco - A Very Big Little Bike
As a former 111 owner this is a perfect comparison. Stupid short chainstays with reach that was way too long but very fun in the right situations. Heavy as fuck and quick to lose front end traction if you move back over the seat. These days i'm much happier on a smaller bike with a balanced front and rear. I had a love/hate relationship with the 111.

Industry Digest: Giant Ends Stages Investment Plan, Wahoo Lawsuits, Peloton Seatpost Recall & More
@bertimusmaximus: right, that's basically the point I'm making. We're talking about alternatives to Peloton not shredding the gnar. Even then, to a lot of people mountain biking is flat trails and gravel roads. A Trek Marlin is actually perfect for that. I'd probably prefer a Marlin to my stumpy evo on gravel and green trails just for the fun factor.

Industry Digest: Giant Ends Stages Investment Plan, Wahoo Lawsuits, Peloton Seatpost Recall & More
@Processtuna: There's plenty of solid bikes for normal people for like 6 or 700 bucks. The vast majority of people on the planet are going to be perfectly happy with a trek marlin or something similar.

Five Ten Launches The New Kestrel BOA
@hellbelly: Agreed on Specialized. I've been using freerider pros for a long time and hated having to replace them every season. Not only do the Roosts grip noticeably better than the freeriders, they last way, way longer.
