DIY Cable Cam

The video gives you a little insight into how we made our DIY cable cam and the end results. All biking was filmed on The Beast in the Peak District on a Panasonic GH1. It was rather overcast on the day but we did the best we could.

What did you do for stopping at the end? I've gone through several cablecam designs and I've got a very steady one now but speed control (and more importantly, stopping) is still difficult...

Yeah stopping is something we should probably work on too. We just used a towel hung at the end of the cable to bring tha cam to a stop. Worked as long as you remembered to reset the towel each time.

I tried this, I live in Germany and the hardware shops were of little to no help. Was ridiculous how understocked they were in terms of the necessary hardware, ropes, guide wheels....everything honestly
