A peek into the details of maintenance.
Great Vid Mate!...I feel that Zen alright...If I made a similar vid, it'd go for several hours and would feature a scene showing me, concentrating with my tongue sticking out, cleaning my BB with a cotton bud...
I gotta agree, similiar idea as Worm-Burner's statement if I made a vid, except every few minutes of the vid would contain bouts of profanity and the throwing of a tool.
Nice to see someone else who uses grease as liberally as me, get some stick for it but there's a reason my bike runs silently and nothing ever ceases.. Awesome video
yao nice video bro! film editing n sounds dope! im a clean freak too.
yao i want to ask u im a newbie, i picked up 08 ironhorse 7.3 DH recently its stock, hardly ridden, good cond, no squeeks or funny sounds at all while riding but i was offered by a bike mechanic friend to do this specific maint. service(since its 08 bike and we bout to hit '12) for $100 to do a few tune up like grease f/r wheel centr hubs, center crank housing/bearings, install new/longer chain and top off front manitau fork shock liquids-------->waste of money or should i invest and go for it? I know maintenance is the key to longevity i work w rc cars n helis now into DH bikes lol but i do basic maintenance cleaning myself ie chain wash re lube, tire psi, brakes adj, etc all thru youtube.
tnx. E.

Do it yourself, its not hard to do if you have proper tools. ive taught myself everything to know after doing it a couple times.
Got all excited when I thought this was a video about maintaining your own trails.. That being said, still a great vid
hey, guess what? i left my bike covered in mud for about a month out in the alps, and it stayed mint...only problem was some of the mud started to stain! ahaha, You must have a fit when you see dirty bikes

does the grease you use come in that convenient tube or is that a grease gun, can i asl if it is the former what grease it is please?
very cool vid btw.
very cool vid btw.
no it comes in a normal grease tube, but i put it in syringes to use. And is called rocknroll Super-web grease.
thanks for asking!
thanks for asking!
I love how I just now got done dialing in my specialized SX and just came home and got on pinkbike and saw this
Probably, that kind of correct maintenance is the reason that my four and five year old rigs still fill like new and I have no desire to spend money on new ones.

Grease on the hub freewheel was also unnecessary.... tighten that sucker down properly. 27-30ft lb to be exact. It will attract dirt and grime.
its not unnecessary, but it stops creaking and helps your cassette come off easily when you go to clean it the next time! i think its a fair trade off to attract a little dirt..
You missed the part when you're supposed to take off all your drivetrain parts and let them soak in a heated solvent tank for a few hours.
Or maybe that's just what I do...
