27.5 is dead. 5 years from now 27.5 will be the new 26.
just got back from riding my new trance x 1 27.5 in a place i normally ride my 29er, the 27.5 is way more fun, carve corners, lighter and much more agile. 29ers have their place, light XC or big open trails.
I honestly debated buying anther 27.5 for over a month, just decided to go for it but had to be slack as and 150/160 ish, took a ride to get used to it but after today.. i regret waiting so long... reminded me why i started MTBing.
I'm in the other camp...never tried a 29er...currently have an sb165. How much am I losing out in terms of plushness and not getting hung up over roots by sticking with 27.5? For what it's worth I actually really like 27.5 plus for trail riding...though for bikepark I need a setup with less squirm.

Personally, Ive been on only 29ers for atleast 8 months now, the biggest thing i noticed was the wheel wasnt sticking way out front and being able to climb better, im less tired at the top on 27.5 than i was on 29. i honestly didnt notice any real roll over difference on 2.6 27.5 vs 2.5/2.4 29er. I gained a heap of Mobility on 27.5, launching off features more easily i find myself going faster.
I intend to get back on the 29er altitude When i go the bike park later this month and expect it to feel super fast but lazy, ie the wagon wheel effect, the best way i can explain 29ers to a 27.5 person is this: spin a fidget spinner fast and hold it between thumb and index vertically - then twist your hand, you can feel the weight of rotation, that reminds me of when your trying to tip a 29er in.

27.5 plus is definitely not ideal for bike park if you ride any kind of aggressive. that being said you won't really notice much difference between 27.5 plus and 29. but you will notice a big difference between 27.5 plus and regular 27.5 especially at the bike park. it will track better and feel more like you're riding on rails instead of balloons.
Exactly...my point being just because things change doesn't mean they are always better..just different. Plenty of people love the smaller wheels for fun just like plenty of people would rather take a petrol engine over an electric motor for fun.
Santa Cruz Nomad and you can add the Cascade link to it for 180mm rear travel. New Transition Patrol, run it stock at 160mm rear, or longer stroke shock for 170mm rear and or run it with the Cascade link and longer stroke shock for 180mm rear travel and run a 27.5 fork at 170-180mm of travel. New Evil Insurgent, 165mm rear travel, 170-180mm 27.5 fork. New Fezzari La Sal, 170mm rear travel, 180mm 27.5 fork.
27.5 for life! They hook up in corners and berms and are easier to jump. It's becoming more of a niche these days; maybe that will change because there are a lot of 27.5 riders out there. I have a V3 Bronson and love how playful it is once you have it up to speed. Rips both trails and bikeparks.
