Blake Carney signs with Supercross

Oct 27, 2011
by Ian Hylands
Supercross is a cutting edge bike company that is very influential in the BMX racing scene, and they have decided to carry over their winning formula to mountain bikes. Signing one of America's top 4X racers is a big step in that direction.

bigquotes2012 will be a changing year for 4X and gated racing, and I am stoked to be riding and racing the best frames out there, and promoting an awesome company. - Blake Carney

Blake Carney will be focusing on 4X, DS, and Downhill for the 2012 season. He will be mainly riding the Shine 4X hardtail and the Propel full-suspension slalom bike.

Sorry but they even admit it on their website. www.supercrossbmx.com/article/april_18th_2011_jerry_s_sea_otter_update right below the first picture. It shares the same shape of linkage as Banshee and Canfield but a different mounting position than Canfield. Now before you blab your mouth find out what you are talking about. Bikes looking similar is actually a good things compared to what most people think, it further progresses and refines ideas and competition between companies, which means better product which means we as consumers win.
here are some pics so you can see for yourself:

Funny thing is.. Their BMX shit dents like none other... How will the MTB frames hold up ?
  • 1 1
Yeah looking at the back end, Looks pretty weak. Even for 4x ..you come up short on a big double and your going to want something thats going to hold. If you want a good 4x bike with a very low weight ..look towards the banshee amp I love mine. The head tube as well ...hmm ..no.

I know for a fact that they ride really nice, but they den't really easily in the top and down tubes, which IMO completely ruins a bike. Supercross strives too much for weight savings. They need to worry about the function of their frames.

I ride both the Shine and Propel and both are amazing bikes. I have done 15foot drops on both even crashed in a rock garden on the Propel and nothing happened to the frame. They are great bikes and I'm glad to back them. There will be a few at Sea Otter if some one wants to test it out just look for a Supercross bike. They went with thicker tubing on all their MTN bikes you can hear the sounds from a Envy vs a Shine or Propel. But don't take my work for it check ur local bike shop or come to Sea Otter and you can ride mine.

Glad to see Bill got his wits together for the Mtb's.

My Propel rides like none other. I'm really happy with it but as soon as he gets into this whole " It's gotta be lighter because its 2012 " stage, it kind of makes me weary of buying an updated one.

I have the 2011 proto type and its the same weight as the 2012 only reason mine is heavier is cause im using double tracks and a psylo. See if Bill will bring one to the ABA race in a few weeks if I remember right the only diff is the links were adjusted but thats all but I could be wrong I'm just getting into this the last 3months due to Jerry Vanderpool at HippieTech. This bike is great right out of the box. I'm far from the smoothest rider coming from a full DH bike to this was a big wake up call but the back end is stiff and even with the 3.75in of travel it can take a good beating. Got a few Go Pros today and tomorrow I will be out testing them on some of the jumps and drops that I have made and will post a link. But if it can survive a few big freeride hits I'm happy. If anyone wants to test ride my bike and are in Boise Idaho. We ride on the weekend at the velo park I have a Black and silver Propel with army green psylo and I'll let u take it for a spin.

Yaaaaaaaaa finally supercross making mtb's. That frame looks awesome, more bmx companies should make that same move.

people with eyes everywhere agree: that dh bike is a blatant and janky ass legend imitation/ripoff

 TR450 OR BUST!

Looks nice but the worst name for a bike brand...
  • 1 0
 You're kidding right ?
  • 1 0
 no, i'm actually not...
  • 2 0
It's better than most other names out there. Supercross is a type of racing, sure it's dirtbikes but let's ignore that for 10 seconds. Supercross BMX started out heavily with Race product. Not that bad of a name choice if you use some logic.

That's just like naming a bike brand "Freeride"...
  • 1 0
lol, the name reminds me of supercycle too much
  • 1 4
That frame looks horrible. Look at the bottom bracket height...
  • 2 0
It's called a RACE BIKE! It's not for slopestyle or dirt jump.. FOUR CROSS AND DUAL SLALOM!
  • 1 0
Not liking it to be honest.

Race bikes have a lower COG for better starts, and it's a STRICT race bike. lol
