Fab has done it once again: he's discovering the true personalities hidden behind the full-face helmets rocketing off the biggest ramps. Darren Berrecloth is the subject of his 5th film of the summer. It might be the best one yet, with a sweet combination of sick BC singletrack and behind the curtains look at Berrecloth's homestead. The multiple talents of this rider are revealed as Fab gets a tour of his home, shop, and native terrain. At the end of the day, of course it's about killer riding but it's also about solitude, appreciation of the wild outdoors, and finding contentment.

Makes me want to quit medical school, get out of the city, grab my bike and move into a cabin out west. What a life!

That pool jump looked wicked, I'd like one of them... but if I started digging holes in my back garden I think the wife would string me up by my balls lol Awesome Darren really enjoyed that!!

But if biking paid for that back yard, I dont think any of our wives could say a thing. Me, Ill still be jumping in to the local lake.

I have always wondered how the McCaul's managed to convince their folks to initially add a huge jump into the swimming pool... or did they make the modifications as a "surprise"?
  • 6 0
I think by the time they installed a jump into the backyard pool, their parents were pretty used to that sort of thing happening lol

Feeling a bit disappointed, had higher expectations after reading the title.

Darren.... You are one the most inspirational people I know! Fan has done a great video here catching you being yourself. Little do people know... That is what Darren does all in one day!!! You are the greatest Darren... An inspiration to Canada.. To BC... To Vancouver Island! Proud to be Canadian!

Barel: "______ is one of the most talented rider on the planet." Pretty standard and not a unique statement of Barel Big Grin

I always loved Vancouver Island. The place was awesome. And Fabien should do an episode with Rob Warner. LOL

Claw is the best! Interesting video, but awful music...

So dubstep is better? Electric guitar and some drums are the best kind of music for mountainbike movie/clip.

So what these are the only two options; dubstep or boring generic guitar riffs. It may surprise you to learn that there are other kinds of music worth listening to and especially putting over action scenes. I've found some of the best and wierdest music in my collection has come from TV shows like Top Gear, MTB Films like Life Cycles and Follow Me and even some Video Game OSTs. I'm with Nolram; this was a weak choice.

Aside from that nice edit, but it did seem a bit cut off at the end. Plus there didn't seem to be much interaction between the two riders in the way there were in the other short films. I watched Seasons the other day and it was interesting to see how much smoother (if it were possible) Berrecloth is these days. What a beautiful and bleak place he lives in.

Yes, I know that there is other kind of music called dubstep. But the point is that this sort of music just dont match to mountainbike film. It's too... strange... or newschool. In my opinion sounds of barkling and snarling of Optimus Prime and Megatron having sex are the worst kind of music for films like this one above.
And yes, I'm fan of more classical music. Smile

I know what you mean Nolram. Way too basic/boring guitar "riffs" (more like lame progressions) and awful generic drum-machine made drum lines. And just to make it worse, really bad mixing/mastering. I'm sorry but i would never ever hire that Michael Denny. Ever.

it's not the genre, more what the songs were like
