To be honest, even though I will get negged no doubt, I find this a bit of a strange awkward interview. I'm not really sure if we really need to know the that much detail about Sams personal life.
Seems like when people preface their comment with something like "I'll probably get negative propped for this," they always seem to get positive. Good comment though.
Si Paton is a crap interviewer. He is far too stand-offish, has absolutely no rapport with the interviewee.
Who needs to know if there was a fucking natural birth or not.
All things considered I thought Sam handled that really well.
@ simooo your an idiot... I just got a little boy the week before Sam got his and I think this was a great interview, he was interviewed on being a dad and the mom giving birth is a part of being a dad.
The good thing about interview on PB is that nobody will force you to watch it, now you know when the title say "... on being a dad " just don't watch it.
Si Paton just isn't a natural interviewer. The other thing that detracts from these interviews is the constantly moving camera, it's almost like the 'talking stick' and they cant speak until the camera is on them.
some one needs to gently and politely explain to si paton that his skill set does not include what it takes
to make a decent interviewer. that took awkward to olympic levels.
I'm sorry but Si looks like he does not want to be there has no interest in being there and has the worst interview skills i have ever seen sort it out get some one proper to do it.
I used to think Sam Hill was a bit of a bogan but now I think he's cool. I have a 3 year old kid and another little lad just 2 weeks old and for us new fathers it's really good shit that we can relate to. I'm surprised he didn't say anything negative though because there's lots of it.
I've got a lot of time for the "what have you got planned for him?" "Whatever he wants".
Of course we all want our kids to be F1 drivers or golfers, but I'd settle for footballer or mountain biker.
On ya champ.
Si Paton, have you ever watched TV? I think you could do with brushing up on your interview technique a smidge. Maybe just work on your introductions. Talk about a flat first 90 seconds, I almost fell asleep. You should take a leaf out of Ali G's book.
One classic Samapalooza party later and...........Bam... a baby is born.
Let's hope the phenomenal awkwardness of this interview doesn't stop him dominating Gwinny and the crew later today... Go Hill!
Such a terrible interview. "and where were you when you got your lady knocked up?" "what position where you in?" "can I have part of the umbilical cord?"
Not many people know that Hill once competed in the Rampage, back when he was an 18 year old young gun. I think he was on a Giant back then? That's the only place I've seen him in person, I hope they have a World Cup on the west coast again one day.
I just think it's gonna be kinda awkward for the kid if he ever sees this later on "So, you've got a kid now !" Sam : " yeah........... it's pretty cool"
Yeah he seems to have a changed quite a lot over the past few years, could not imagine him handling an interview like this before. Seems a lot more relaxed and rounded. Everyone's all over Gwin atm but SH is a legend and personally I always liked his quiet low key attitude. He would just do the biz on the track and leave it at that without much more to say.
Thankfully Sam has skill at riding a bike because he still has absolutely no personality! Shouldn't he be a little more stoked that he's just become a father?
Bam: "Nope, my dad's Sam Hill... Only the most awesome son of a bitch this side of Jupiter"
**Random Kid explodes spontaneously from exposure to pure awesome**
