The California Enduro Series (CES) is pleased to announce the 2015 race schedule and promises another great year of Enduro racing. In its third year, CES proves its commitment to growing this popular cycling sport by expanding its schedule to include additional fun and challenging venues, offering more race categories, and maintaining equal pro payout to both men and women for series overall top placement.

Expanded race schedule
For 2015, the series is expanding to seven rounds, welcoming back popular venues from last year and adding two new events: the Wild Wood Adventure Enduro on the Mendocino coast and the Ashland Mountain Challenge. Additionally, 2015 will introduce the first multi-day Enduros—with both Wild Wood and Northstar leading the way with two back-to-back exciting days of racing.

CES Director Steve Gemelos says, “We’re looking forward to bringing back venues from last year that hosted great races and really showcased the diverse mountain biking zones in California.” Gemelos adds, “We’re thrilled with the addition of the Ashland and Mendocino venues, with Ashland offering some of the best mountain biking on the west coast, and Mendocino opening up a whole new riding region for many participants. Throw in our very first multi-day races, and this is going to be one heck of a year.”

With the expansion to seven events, the 2015 series points will be based on the top five results of the seven races. Gemelos explains, “Sometimes things don’t work out at a race; a flat tire, a mechanical, or just an off day can ruin your series. We want to keep things fun and competitive. This season, a bad race won’t end your series. You get seven opportunities to post your five best results. This will make it much more competitive for the series overall standings, and more competition makes it more fun.”

CES 2014 Pro Women second place winner Brianne Spiersch, enthuses, “Leading the way with equal Pro payout in 2014 demonstrated the series’ character and I’m thrilled to hear they will continue to do so. As a female racer, I believe this provides incentive for more girls to race the whole series and also encourages the wide-scope growth of more women wanting to improve and move up through the ranks. This overall enthusiasm and excitement transcends more than racing. For example, the excellent coverage of these events showcasing great photos of talented female athletes also gets more women stoked to get out and shred. The more people riding bikes, the better for everyone!”

Pro rider Christine Hirst—a devoted advocate for women athletes—adds, “CES has consistently demonstrated commitment to female racers through social and print media efforts, promoting ladies of all levels. I am thrilled the series will continue to recognize the efforts of female pros through equal payouts.”

Additional categories
In addition to an expanded schedule, CES is also increasing the selection of race categories. Additional age groups have been included in the Men’s Sport and Expert classes, and the Junior Boys category has been split into Sport and Expert classes.

Enduro, a relatively new but wildly popular and rapidly growing mountain bike race discipline, requires the fitness and stamina of cross-country racing plus the technical handling skills of downhill racing. Kurt Gensheimer, aka The Angry Singlespeeder, explains, “Enduro is really just another word for mountain biking, because at its core, Enduro is about getting radical on knobby tires with new friends and world-class trails. Add a dash of friendly competition with lots of great swag and you've got the California Enduro Series. It's the only event where downhillers, XC fitness freaks and weekend warriors can all compete and have a great time.”

Looking forward to hitting these CES events… Stoked to see you guys got Bill and Sue from Ashland in the mix as well. Those two are really passionate about MTB's.
  • 3 0
I have used Bill & Sue's shuttle service a couple of times, they are good people. Does the CES have sport category for old guys like me?
  • 1 0
We have a Sport Men 50+ category. Check out the website www.californiaenduroseries.com for details.

Cool. 55 and want to try out an Enduro or 2. Ashland is probably the closest to me. Thanks for the info.
  • 2 0
Ashland enduro is great. It was my first race and bill and sue are just plain awsome. Also the 50+ cat has enough racers to make it fun.
  • 3 0
I'd like to try Enduro. I've raced DH and Super-D and XC in my 28 year career, so Enduro is the next hot ticket. I have ridden Ashland a couple of times and dig riding up there.
  • 1 1
I would have expected Ashland to be part of Oregon's enduro. In fact, I am pretty sure it is. Does that mean it is both?
  • 6 1
The AMC (Ashland Mountain Challenge) will only be a race within the CES this year.We are excited to be a part of this series that is growing and has such amazing venues. Working with Steve and Michelle has been a breeze. We feel Ashland will be a good fit and look forward to providing a challenging course that racers will be stoked with. We retain all of our Staff from OBRA, UNREAL TIMING and the HWY 68 Hillbilly's to get the job done, Along with all of our former Sponsors that help keep this event Top Notch. Get out there and train, ride your bikes and shred, this years event will be bigger than ever!

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla riding, with a man who's the best, with tools, with bikes, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Ashland his job is to kill trail. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well William Roussell is the best.
  • 3 0
 Kill Trail!!!!!!
  • 2 0
it sucks to be considered old for the 50÷ category. but doesn't suck as much as golf.
  • 3 0
I suck at golf. I want to hit the ball like a baseball, I think they frown on that. Lets go ride Enduro.
  • 2 0
 it's on
  • 2 1
Most awesome hilly billy mtb moment ever.

Kill trail= getter dun

The one day at Northstar was quite awful last year. They're going to need to seriously step their game up this year if it's going to be two days.
  • 12 1
Yes, very much so. Northstar needs to learn from the other races and show that they actually care about their racers(CUSTOMERS) and not just making $$$$$
  • 4 2
Agreed. The course designers needs to make sure they're utilizing the challenging trails that Northstar has so there is plenty of carnage. Last year was pretty tame, not to mention flat! Atleast have us go down boondocks, but no Pansywire please. Stoked for another season of racing!
  • 9 0
Folks - we at CES have been in close discussions with the folks at Northstar, and we will be working together to put on an awesome event. And that goes the same with all the events, we are taking a much more active partnership this year, working with the race directors, and with some of your fellow racers to make sure these events are dialed - and truly represent California Enduro.
  • 1 0
Good to hear. I would be stoked for a multiple day race at Northstar, however I'm not 100% sure if I will be making it to that one yet.
  • 3 0
Now that Mammoth owns Snow Summit, perhaps the Kamakizi folks could pull off an event in Big Bear.
  • 2 0
Quicker results after each race would be awesome, hanging out until 4pm to have results posted is kind of lame.
  • 1 0
Really glad to hear that calienduro . Can't wait!
  • 2 0
Registration is managed by each of the event managers of the individual event --- We'll be posting registration information on our website as soon as we have it. The best way to keep informed is by following California Enduro Series on Facebook
  • 3 0
Stoked. Hope to make many/all but hope China Peak takes it more seriously this year. Double booking and closing the park Sunday with no notice is not exactly a warm welcome.
  • 6 0
 Ashland!
  • 2 0
 HYF!!!!!
  • 5 0
No socal races yet again. Bummer. Bring the ces back!
  • 1 0
Seriously, SoCal needs some more Enduro love.
  • 1 0
As a Norcal racer, I would love to come down and race in SoCal. Get your local promoters on board for 2016!
  • 3 0
Lauren gregg needs some new knee pads..or r they shin guards? Well, I guess they worked anyways.
  • 2 0
yeah i was thinking something on the border of norcal and socal like Hungry Valley OHV right off the I5...there are some sick trails in there
  • 1 0
wait...so it's the California Enduro Series with races in Oregon? I must be missing something...

^^ edit: and I just read through the thread and saw how unoriginal I am. sigh...
  • 1 0
 dont forget nevada
  • 5 2
Waffles or pancakes? Cast your vote here!
  • 8 2
can your ass hole be an option?
  • 1 0
 waffles!
  • 4 1
Cant wait for another Great Season of racing!!
  • 6 3
I think you missing a letter in CES, should be NCES
  • 8 0
So do you want to step up to the plate and organize a race in SoCal? The organization helps individual organizers with their races, so instead of complaining take action!
  • 4 1
There is an enduro series in SoCal - www.socalenduroseries.com - maybe not quite on the same level as the CES, but would've been cool to incorporate with the CES instead of an Oregon race?
  • 4 0
I can think of some great venues in East County San Diego, but they'd have to start the season in February or you'd lose half the field to heat stroke
  • 2 0
The series promoters want to include a socal race but they need a race promoter that wants to take part. Like Ryan said the series promotores do not put on all the individual races.
  • 2 0
And the SoCal season does start in Feb. Considering CES are going to Oregon and Nevada for races I wonder if there are personality issues keeping the SoCal races from being incorporated
  • 6 0
Folks - we tried to include a SoCal venue for 2015. We even got as far as having a venue (Riverside) and a title sponsor - but we couldn't get a director to take it on.

We also spoke with Jason Ranoa from SoCal Enduro Series, unfortunately we couldn't align our calendars for the 2015 season.

We want CES to represent all of California, we need a race director in SoCal to come onboard.
  • 2 0
Now that Mammoth owns Snow Summit, perhaps the Kamakizi folks could pull off an event in Big Bear.
  • 4 1
yeah, i was going to add that bit about socalenduro series... ppl should definitely hit that up in 2015... the more racing the better... they are even going to do an event at the Dirt Club where i started my races... i will be out there racing!
  • 1 0
Ashland isn't even in California so I would say there are more letters missing still. It is part of the Oregon enduro series already I am pretty sure. Maybe we should see a west coast enduro series.
  • 2 1
Have you ever been to Ashland? Neither is Peavine. Peavine is farther away from California than Ashland. How 'bout that bruh?
  • 2 0
Just fyi, the west side of Peavine is in California... the race course is a few miles from the border...
  • 3 0
Both places are near Cali. I think there is just so much incredible riding in the north west. Too much to fit in one series.
  • 1 0
OK, you win. I smell smoke. Deploy burn kit..
  • 2 0
Stoked on the new schedule! This past season was so great with each event held, definitely looking forward to 2015!
  • 1 0
How about required gear? Oregon required full face and knee pads. Might be a great trip for us PNW CDC guys on the off weekend.
  • 5 0
Gear is a race by race decision. China Peak will require full face, knees, and long fingers this year. The course is getting some harder sections.
  • 1 0
harder than that rock garden on stage 3? daaaamn Smile
  • 2 0
Definitely looking forward to this year's Ashland Mountain Challenge!! Hell Yeah Foo!!!
  • 4 0
 MOBY!!!!!!!!!!
  • 2 0
There are a lot of races in Ashland in 2015!
  • 2 1
 NCES- Northern California Enduro Series.
  • 1 0
Yeah, I was bummed out to see that too. there is even one in Oregon now but nothing SoCal... I don't have enough vacation days to make any of these races other than mammoth...
  • 1 0
when and where do we sign up?!
  • 3 3
Any prices? Not psyched on paying $100 bucks for any of these...
