These have just hit the UK shores and are hitting the trails as we speak. No surprise at under £400.00 it's ticking a lot of boxes.
To see how big a bang you get for your bucks, stand back and open with caution..

TomBunning.com Available in limited numbers featuring Atherton racing inspired graphics, the ethos around the bike hasn’t changed since the introduction of the original Max Max a few years ago – a tough, affordable and easily upgraded introduction in the world of dirt jumping, I'll even add 4x racing.
This point is emphasized by the use of the exact same 6061 T6 aluminum frame that is featured on all the higher-spec Absolut 1&2 full bikes.
The new frame features arguably the most versatile dropouts on the market, allowing the use of a rear derailleur and pretty much all rear 135mm hub standards on the market (10mm, 12mm, 12mm Maxle or Singlespeed hubs) via the modular hanger/dropout system.
The bike also features Commencal’s new dirt fork which replaces the heavier 5pc fork used in previous year’s models, helping to drop weight.

The hubs are compatible with discs. I agree though, a set of avid mechanicals would have topped it off to be an unbeatable budget bike.
Colour looks sweet too.
Kona's bikes have hardly changed in the last decade. For DJ, they have got boring bikes that look the same way they did 5 years ago. They are not at all innovative (case in point: DOPE System). I know that if you have a good design you should stick with it, but you have to evolve with the sport. And in my mind, one new bike (the Bass) doesn't cut it.
very nice looking frame!!
Look the bike has nice features!
The 1st:
It's totally lightweight!
The 2nd:
The hub's are disc compatible, and yes it was better if the disc brakes come, but as they say(commencal), this is supposed to be a cheap bike, so you can adventure yourself and upgrade it as you would like!
The 3rd:
You were talkin about the wheels, but i have to say! They are really good! I only do street, and for a 400 price bike is excellent!
I have tried kona, specialized, black market... and actually with the MAXMAX equipped with the same material i had no difference! Only one thing! The weight was totally cool! Much lightyear!
I wouldnt be seen dead with one though
modular dropouts on FRAMES less than 400 quid are rare and seeing as all the parts apart from the frame are basically designed to be replaced its a pretty damn good deal. also the white rigid fork will be pretty easy to sell on to some trend whore kid and you could buy a decent second hand sus fork for it with the money.
It's ugly and even the Athertons sticker can't help.
