PRESS RELEASE: MERIDA EX presented by Shimano

THE MERIDA EX presented by Shimano will return to hills and valleys of Exmoor for another round of our 3-day enduro extravaganza.

After a truly epic event in 2023, which showed how THE MERIDA EX can handle even the most challenging weather conditions, the 7th edition of our multi-day enduro event will take place slightly earlier this year on 6-8th September 2024.

Judging by the feedback we received from countless riders, our partners and the press, the 2023 event, despite the rather 'challenging' conditions, once again impressed with great riding, exciting racing, a relaxed event atmosphere and a long list of unusual and exciting event details, creating a unique enduro experience for everyone.

Although the plan was to run an e-bike only edition in 2024, due to the overwhelming demand for another 'classic' event, we can officially announce that we will once again run a mixed event with both 'e' and 'analogue' bikes welcome.

So, THE MERIDA EX presented by Shimano 2024 will invite just 80 riders to tackle over 20 special stages spread over approximately 100km of riding, including the popular Exposure Light night stages, all squeezed into three action packed days of riding on some of the best trails Exmoor has to offer.

THE MERIDA EX presented by Shimano has always been based not only on providing top level riding, but also on going the extra mile in every other aspect of our event, from the facilities to the food, from the all inclusive bar to our uplift element. While those fundamentals will not change, we always have a few extra 'tricks' up our sleeve to keep things exciting for the many returning 'repeat customers' we have built up over the years.

The idea of an ebike only racing event is so sad to me, glad it’s not the case quite yet.

Considering an e-bike only event? That’s enough to get me to move right on past.

Not everyone can afford to have 2 bikes and now I've got a Kenevo SL I'd probs never go back to analogy unless I could afford it or bought a DH bike. Pretty much everyone I know has sold their bike to get an ebike. They are just better. I've gone SL to try keep it as close as possible to normal and still have to work a bit

@Jordmackay: Pretty much everyone I know do not consider buying an e-bike, despite some having enough money and space to keep an e-bike along with their current bikes. Does it mean anything? No and neither does your example

This is really a fantastic event. Really good length of stages and transitions, and the terrain is varied too. Tons of food, endless beer and great company make the evenings a massive part of your weekend as well as the riding. Do it!

£375 entry fee, its not a cheap do but it looks epic

Yeah, can’t imagine the course will be very good for leg powered riders. There’s lots of enduro racing available for pedal cyclists though, so no big deal.

Just move on past.
