Main Street.....w/ Dobermann Bikes

The reason behind the movie:

I wanted to make a movie that was different. No dirt jumping or slopestyle. And most of the time we ride street anyway. So, for over two months we just filmed. Every time we weren’t working, we rode and filmed, nights and weekends.Who am I?

I’m Vincent Allard, an 18-year-old cinema student from Montreal. I’d like to work in the movie industry as a photo director or editor (editing). But in short term, I ride my bike and have fun with my friends. I try to make my movies as close to real life as possible by using shots of sceneries and locals. To film Main Street, I used a Panasonic DVX100B camera that can film in 24p or Wide screen. Those two elements are key to the quality of the images in the movie.

What’s next?

I’d like to make a 30 minute video next summer, with more riders and more locations. In the meantime, you can watch Main Street for free!

Enjoy.

[Quoten]For me, there was no actual filming. It just felt like a regular ride with the guys. No one was stressed or anything. We probably have more fun shooting this movie than watching it! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great feeling to see the final result on the screen, but when the project is in the capable hands of Vincent, you know that you’re not going to be disappointed.
-Michel Plonka

Each day of filming was pretty random. It’s what made it so fun. If we had planed each ride, I’m sure we wouldn’t have been as motivated. Even if some days weren’t productive as filming goes, it just gave us a reason to ride more. What I remember of the last months is having a lot of fun with my friends and pushing my personal limits on and off camera.
-Joe Karam

The filming consisted of two kinds of rides. The ones with particular goals or tricks to do were the most productive of riding footage. The reason for that is because we had the encouragement of our friends, which at the end gave us more courage. And we had the ‘’smooth’’ rides. Most of the time those rides ended in a poutine and beer fest!

This video is awesome, personally i am i street fan with mtb. the video had some nice tricks and i enjoyed the intro it just showed what tricks that are gona be pulled off, yes they might have crashed alot but at least there riding and have aload of fun doing what they do. and why should this stuff be done on BMX??? thats a stupied thing to say.... so i guess MTBs not aloud to be street... well then i guess BMX cant be dirtjumping then??? its all bullshit its just the style some people like mtb or bmx its awesome just enjoy every moment of it. and how about this " got nothing good to say dont say it at all" i dont think anyone that made a video and made a sweet video at that needs some a*shole saying shit about the video, and if you are one that is saying shit about the video how about this weres your video???

so guys props enjoyed the video and look forward to seeing some more videos by you guys and dont change a thing!

Why didn't I see any VOD here? Lack of helmets? Back in the day there was no helmets! I got to say it brings back good memories. Don't get me wrong, I wear mine with pride. I don't think I've seen this many foot-jam-tailwhipson mountain bikes before. Props to Michel Plonka. (I think) Did you guys notice the 360 on flat by Joe Karam?! (I think that's is name) Funky style, but efficient. Their's also this part about 7 minutes into the movie were you see Plonka doing an 180 to foot jam to 180 out it's like a fancy 360! It's pure pleasure to watch. There's so much technical stuff that I have to play it frame by frame to see what just happened. Keep up the great work M. Allard. Practice makes perfect.

Nice movie, nice tricks, i like it a lot, only i dont understand one thing, why arent all of you guys wearing a helmet?
  • 6 2
yah they should be wearin helmets... but these guys are doing a lot of bmx inspired riding and bmx'ers dont were buckets. maybe thats the reason? anyways nice riding, great tricks, good job

 Damm.
Thats stupid.

Oh. Bmxers dont wear helmets. So they wont wear any because their riding ressembles bmxing.

Xavier (blue Dob with suspention, Barspins alot) dosent wear a lid because he hates the feeling. Similar reasons for vincent (editor/filmer/Black dob with blue Dob fork).

Wearing a helmet or not is Personal preference.
When he tries something new/big/dangerous. Vince puts a helmet. Same for xav.
And the other riders in the film wear lids.

why the hell would they wear it when they're trying something new, thats not the only time you can get hurt, ive seen guys do this, including myself, do a trick they've had dialed in for months, and mess up of something and go down pretty hard, thats why ppl always were their bucket, becuas eyou never know when your gunne go down. and who cares if it doesnt feel good, find a helmet that does, not all helms. feel the same, it took me so long to find one that fits and feels right, and i cant ride without it, thats were a lot of riders confidence comes from, knowing they're safe.. somewhat, so get off your ass and buy a bucket that fits/feels good, and you wont have to worry botu every one telling you to, just do it, besides it sets a good example for kids

thanks for comments everyone. I just dont get how some people care so much if i ride bigger wheels... just dont watch it if your to complain "hey man ive never seen or met you but im pissed because you are doing what you like in a different way than me!"

anyways, thanks for commenting, im not going to hate someone i dont know.

peace

What mitch Said. Evryone hating should stfu and go ride.

Pretty good. Was expecting more, not as far as riding goes, that was great, but the video quality was poor. Kinda spoilt it for me. And shame the wallride to whip never made it, would have been crowning moment.

Some good ideas, buckle down on your filming techniques (shake!) and post production and you could go far, good luck

Thanks. Finally some reasonable talk instead of ...you're an idiot.I will agree that the editing is great and if that's what's going on in montreal, then all the power to them. They're out on a bike and that's all that matter's. I just didn't have my morning coffee before I spoke. But still stand behind my first comment and that's "get a BMX" hahahaha!
  • 3 1
 Dammit this is retarded.

bmxers (some of them) hate on MtbStreet
Dhers hate on mtb street.

Evryone hates mtb street.

Its all about feeling and choice.
Kinda like wearing a Helmet (dont get me wrong I wear one and think its pretty important).
If they dont like how small a bmx is, or how harsh it can be for the back or the knees. Then they'll ride 24/26 inch wheels.

 I don`t hates MTB street!!!!
  • 2 0
yeah some of us taller guys dislike tiny ass bmx's cuz it all goes in to the back + knees.. anyone should be able to ride anything without getting hated on, it's ignorance which fuels hatred.

looks good to me. Im not a big fan of the whole street scene but if thats what you ride then thats what you ride. Filming looks good and editing is tight, Good work! Id rather watch street then DH footage and its more fun to edit,

MTB street just has some different lines that bmx street does. you're entitled to your opinion. here's mine. i'd ride 20" on street but then I'd be trendy. Who cares what you ride. am I riding for you, or am I riding with myself. I ride both. a lot of people do. if they choose to ride their mtb on street and they're lovin it, so be it. Deal.

Love the vid. The barspin skills were a little over shown but eh, no big deal. Twhips are solid too. Got a solid riding crew there.

 Norcoman...
How, Just how, does riding 24 or 26 inch wheels while practicing street affect your sexual orientation?
You disshing out the gay word because you dont know if you like the girlies maybe?
Or are you just Oh so overly jealous of these riders.
I shoot with these riders often.
And I cannot seem to find Cooler people to ride with.
Better riders.
Good people to chill with.
These are good friends.
And I can tell you.
Whatever you ride. how ever you ride it. You'll never come up to the knee of these guys in term of talent.
You, young man, Are a total Noob.
Check out your local youth center btw.
They can give you some good brochures about Sexual Orientation. You know. Just incase you'd really prefer 6 inches in the back?
