Bike Check: Lukas Schäfer's Signature Radon Slush

Oct 13, 2020
by Samantha Saskia Dugon

Lukas Schäfer has been making a lot of noise in the slopestyle community recently as the 25-year-old from Koblenz has been taking the top step at events such as GlemmRide, Fox US Open Slopestyle, and the Swatch Rocket Air event in 2019, just to name a few. And with the new site for Audi Nines only being a short trip away from home in Koblenz, it's no surprise that he has been a regular at the event, with 2020 being his fifth appearance.

Although the 2020 season has certainly been a strange one, it has seen Lukas' relationship with Radon go to new heights, with him collaborating with the brand to create a special edition, signature Schäfer Radon Slush, which he was riding at Audi Nines this year.

The color of this Slush looks very well suited to the quarry

bigquotesI've got a SRAM Guide brake with a 160mm rotor, the smallest I can ride but big enough for manuals and stuff to get enough power. I've also got SRAM 170mm cranks. They're short enough to do barspins and stuff without getting my foot stuck on the pedals.Lukas Schafer

Super steep brake lever set up
Bontrager pedals

A slick and fast-rolling rear tire

bigquotesI'm running Maxxis Tyres DTH on the back, pretty low profile to get good rolling, and on the front, I've got bit more of a knobbly setup, the Maxxis Pace to get a little bit of grip on the front tireLukas Schäfer

Slopestyle bikes are so beautifully minimalistic!

I love dj bikes...too bad the industry doesn’t seem too!!!

I'd say you're right....Considering you are the only comment in a story that's 7 stories deep on the home page. I think it's because DJ's kind of clash with spandex and aren't great for climbing. Or it could be that they don't have water bottle holder mounts on them. I mean it couldn't be that getting skilled on a DJ is hard work or anything.......

@kymtb0420: I maybe burned at the cross for saying this but I wish my DJ had a bottle mount... hear me out: when you are cruising the streets you can bring water to the spot. A fidlock bottle would be perfect as you can take it off when you are riding and you wont have an ugly cage present.

 @mtbforlife4: you're not wrong. I used a Fabric cageless.

@mtbforlife4: I've got Fabric cageless mounts on my Trek Ticket S for just this reason. Brilliant if you don't want to bring a bag to a sesh, but need fluids along.

@kymtb0420: I would easily ride a DJ bike with spandex if that meant it would give them more publicity

@neoides: Haha....It would grab some attention...Kind of like Voreis on the recumbent in borderline stupid.

Funnily enough my old Giant STP1 (which is now just a frame hanging up in the garage), has TWO bottle mounts.

 More DJ bike checks!

As Radon bikes are assembled on cube's factory, I guess this frame is just cube flying circus frame.
