and all that attempted it. This is a burly AF race.

Anyone know where to find elevation profiles for each stage? I'm curious how much climbing vs descending there was in each timed stage? Thanks! (Specifically interested in timed portions, not transfers.)

This will be a loose (fairly accurate though) figure from memory.

Day 1:
Stage 1 - there is two short but very sharp climbs. at a guess all up would be 80m
Stage 2 - None

Day 2:

No climbing on stages.

Day 3:
Stage 1: depending where they end the stage, but there would be very little climbing as well.
Stage 2: None
Stage 3: not sure where they start finish that, but very little too.

Now in saying the above, to get to the stages, you have to do a lot of climbing, and none of it is gentle easy stuff. I'd be very surprised if someone rode all the way up to stage 1, or 2 on day 1. Day 2 would be the same - except hugely more energy sapping. Day 3 is the heli ride, but to get to stage 2, your carrying you bike.

I probably make it sound like there is no pedaling involved either, but there is, and you do have to gun it if you want a good time. I don't know how there isn't more wrecked bikes on day 2 than there seems to be. Riding it is difficult, racing it is crazy, everyone is a legend who does it. Smile

Echo the comments on Stage 1->Stage 2.. that's a frigging brutal hike a bike. Not sure I've ever been that stuffed getting my bike up something before. To then go and race down it...

Here's the Wakamarina Track profile. The heli landing is around the 6.7 km mark/Fosters hut..

I'm thinking Santa Cruz should adopt Ropelato's paint scheme for the next year of the V4 Nomad. That thing just looks mean and clean.
