The legendary trail Half Nelson trail in Squamish has received a lot of love this spring. Trail building giants Dream Wizards have logged several weeks of excavation, shovelling, raking, and tamping, to bring this 3 kilometer downhill pump track to the next level. Half Nelson is a half hour climb from the pull off on Ring Creek FSR. It is a multi-skill level trail, and has over 70 berms, 50 drainage features, 100 jumps, and nonstop line choice with more options than a grocery store candy aisle. It’s a mountain bike flow trail in the forest with rollers, doubles, triples, and table tops.

Meet Sid Slotegraaf. He is Dunbar Cycle's newest addition to the Downhill race team. Getting loose on his Transition Covert 650b trail bike is the favourite part of his training regime. A recent migrant to Squamish from wintery Ontario, Sid is also the newest addition to Dream Wizard's trail crew. We got a chance to head up to Squamish and film some brand new lines and sections of trail.

Making the best of not-ideal lighting

Half Nelson is ready to ride, so grab your bike and see for yourself how much fun you can have on a bicycle. If you see Big Red Ted on the trails make sure to stop and say hi and thanks, a lot of the work he does is volunteer and he often runs and maintains his machinery out of his own pocket.

Meant to positive prop you Liam. Haven't seen someone completely beat a trail to death like that. Good thing everyone does not ride like that as the trails around Squamish wouldn't last a month.

Hell yeah, Sid is a crusher, def an all around rider, I got to see him ride in person when the team came down in 2011 to our park and gave the trails a good thrashing! He's got tricks too, can-cans, whips, backflips, flip whips, he can do it all!

If I had to choose a trail network that was my favorite, I would say Squamish with out a doubt.

Yea sweet riding Sid! Sid is the most talented rider I have rode with a And a Fun and super chill guy. Every time I have rode with him I would always learn a ton, just small things that will speed me up on the xc and enduro race courses. Also when we are out riding xc he would ask me to lead to see if he could learn anything from me, again just a super cool and talented guy.Too bad he's out in BC now but it sure looks like he's making the most of it! Keep up the great work Sid! Morgan

Past these guys last weekend, my first thought was of the "how to be a Mountain Biker" video. "...get your film maker friend to make you a 3minute edit". Seriously, Nice work though. Trails were minty fresh.

Overkill. The suspension is going to soak it all up and it wont be fun! Rode Full nelson and it wasn't THAT great.. (With a V10)

 Ok merci !

Don't know why rigodon777 got down voted, he's right. Half and full Nelson are way more fun on trail bikes than DH rigs...
