Video: Andrew Taylor Visits California, Nevada, & Utah - AT's Ultimate 48 State Road Trip

California

To kick off my road trip I made my way out of the Bay Area and up towards the Lake Tahoe area to meet up with Dustin Schaad and the boys at the Truckee Bike Park. With the snow nearly gone and the weather warming up it made for one of the best weeks I've had in Tahoe to date.

Nevada

After an epic week in the Lake Tahoe area I keep things rolling by heading into Reno, Nevada to meet up with Greg Watts. We hit up some dirt jumps out at Sandy's and finished it off with some shuttle runs near Mt. Rose with Caroline Jarolimek. Unfortunately the weather shut down plans of finding riding in the Eastern part of the state but I did get to stop by and see Mike D and get my suspension dialed at his new shop (Mad Racing Suspension) before heading into Utah.

Utah

The next state up is Utah, where I meet up with my old buddy Evan Floodman for a few days. Once the weather cleared I made my way over to Eric Porter's to sample some of his local trails and ride his backyard with his boys. Sasha Yakovleff was rad enough to show me around the greater SLC area with one of the highlights being a trail he built in the woods following a solid afternoon at the I Street jumps with Brady Tweedy and the Lloyd boys. After a quick trip to the grocery store I found myself riding moto with some new friends right outside of Salt Lakel. After a solid week I made my way down to Moab to end it with some laps at the local dirt jump park and a ride down the infamous whole enchilada trail. Huge thanks to everyone who made Utah so awesome! It'll be a hard one to beat!

The next states up are Colorado, Kansas and Missouri. You can follow the adventure through my Instagram & Youtube channel with a new video dropping every Wednesday.

Cheers from the road!

"We knew the rack had a crack in it" and you set out on what has to be a 2-3 month road trip. How much weed is stashed in that truck that you couldn't afford a new rack?

haha nah we found out the rack had a tiny crack in it earlier that day. Was planning to get it fixed the next morning but the road was just too damn bumpy

Stoked that you're doing this project AT! Reminds me of when I just started riding and watched the Drop In series over and over again.

Thanks dude! You know you got a spot in the RV whenever you want!

And soon, Coming to Leak another secret trail near you...

Hey Jeff thats not my intentions at all. There's been a handful of places on this trip where I didn't film out of respect. As for the places in these vidoes, I had permission or the trails are common knowledge and can be found on trailforks. Sorry if this rubbed you the wrong way. Cheers!
  • 3 5
@AndrewTaylor: Too bad you showed way too many trails that arent on trailforks though...

@AndrewTaylor: Please do the right thing. You know M__ isn't legal or on TF, don't film the entrance or use the name on trails like this. The community works hard to keep these trails open and off the radar, once it becomes a known and someone has to get heli-d out. That's that. All were

@Soilsledding: a re-edit on his Tahoe vid would be appropriate here due to all the points you just mentioned and the recent issues there. Super lame to pull the "common knowledge" excuse when he's the one putting it out there so publicly.

@Soilsledding @ranger-danger: My bad dudes, I had seen a ton of videos online of this place over the years so I didn't think it would be an issue but I totally get where you guys are coming from. I'll pull that section and make sure to use better judgment next time.

@AndrewTaylor: You may have seen videos, but none of them show the entrance like you did and then post it to the front page of pinkbike...Thanks for pulling it.

@AndrewTaylor: I’ll echo the same about the trail in the Reno segment, there are signs going up and private landowners starting to raise issues with that trail, need to keep it on the DL or it’s going to disappear

@RenoLaw: @AndrewTaylor doesnt care because he doesnt live there. He only cares about how many views his videos get on Pinkbike. Doesnt matter to him if those trails get shut down...SMH

@dmarsh15: Hey man I actually do care and feel really bad about my bad judgement on that. I figured out how to pull out that section. Cheers!

Nice work. Solid riding with positive vibes. If you head to MN, definitely ride Cuyuna, Duluth, or Leb and Theo in the cities.

So all your bikes and Moto just hang there 24/7 on the the RV?! Plus all the sponsor logos, basically a rolling beacon that screams 'steal me'.
  • 7 0
Yeah, I've got multiple locks on them along with a security camera that alerts my phone if theres anything fishy going on. Its definitely a hard part about being on the road but I'm not going to let it stop me.
  • 2 0
@AndrewTaylor: What kind of camera? I'm on the road all the time and consider myself lucky that no one has even broken a window to try yet
  • 2 0
@LoganKM1982: It's called an Owlcam and it's totally worth it. You can stream live video from wherever you're at to view the vehicle as long as you and the cam are in cell service range. You can check it out at owlcam.com

Looking at the map in the intro, looks like you missed Michigan
  • 3 0
Yeah it might look a little confusing but my plan is to hit the UP of Michigan. I've got a buddy who is showing me around and said the UP is where it's at.
