Video: The Dudes of Hazzard Search for the Slop with Jamie Edmondson

Dec 16, 2021
by Liam Moynihan

As summer came to an end and winter began to creep in Liam Moynihan and James Shirley took the opportunity to get on the road and do a lap of the UK meeting up with fellow riders and racers to check out their local trails. This is the first of six episodes following the journey to some excellent riding in Scotland, England and Wales with lots of top-class guests in each spot!

...

After a few days at home enjoying different activities we bump into each other and a plan is crafted. The first stop is Dallas in North East Scotland to meet none other than Jamie Edmondson. The past downhill world cup podium man has so much speed on a bike and treated us to some cool trails in the woods.

...

...

Next it was a few hours south to Ballater where we rode 'Heart Break Ridge' - The wind was strong and cold but the trails were a delight and so was the town itself!

...

Check back next week for a filthy, muddy, rut-fest spectacular in Aberfeldy plus a tickle of the Scottish Borders!

Let us know if you have any hot suggestions for where we should go and who to ride with on the next big road trip!

So stoked to see my local trails up Dallas in the video. The locals can make it out to the trails Inna long lunch for a lap or 2. Jamie's double over the rock is mint. Wondered after I built it if any of the fast boys up here would double it. Great to see it done. Edits like this make all the late nights up on the hill doing maintenance even more fulfilling.

Great to see. I called into Dallas a few years ago whilst on holiday at Findhorn. Was blown away. Some of the lines to the right of the hill as you look up were pretty full on. Felt like riding the steeper parts of the Tweed Valley, but with doubles / big features thrown in!

@paultheweatherman: glad you liked the trails up at Dallas.
It's worth a trip back now for sure as it's evolving all the time just now (maintenance).
The pluscarden hill has some amazing trails on it too and is well with a visit.
If you are ever up this way, look out for North East Races or Mast Riders (for the mast at Inverness) on Facebook, it's a closed group which I am the admin for. Trail updates for the local area go up on there (and on my Instagram).

Dallas trails are a hidden gem.
Kudos to the builders/maintainers.
Such a variety of features in a small hill.
Good job!!!!

@betsie: I was up again at Findhorn this year too. This time over at pluscarden. A real good variety across that hill - at both ends. Also great. I also really liked the river Findhorn and Divie trails - like nothing else! A stunning part of Scotland.

I'm not sure what's happened with the split between Joe Barnes/Ferg and James/Liam, but with the naming things are so confusing...

The Dudes of Hazzard ran for 10 years until 2019. Then I started "Hazzard Racing" to launch my race team and Liam started "DoH" to tie in with his content with James. This title choice a mistake from Pinkbike. I hope that helps any confusion. Rock on!

@joebarnes: any chance of getting the old gang back together for one last dance? You guys all together were probably my favourite MTB videos (except for maybe Akrigg, but for different reasons).

@joebarnes: Get the crew back together. That's the only way to clear this up.

 Enjoyed that.

 Where was the slop?
  • 1 0
No slop at all! They must have driven all over Scotland to find the least sloppy trail. Even the pavements are sloppy just now!

 They're looking for it
