Going all out against the clock down countless stairs on crowded streets, barely a meter wide, on your bike, sounds pretty chaotic right? It also sounds like a thrill Tomas Slavik lives for and is what makes him travel to Chile year in, year out, to race Red Bull Valparaiso Cerro Abajo - the crown jewel of urban downhill mtb racing.— Red Bull
This stuff looks so scary. Sure DH racing has its dangers too but the possibility of catching your handlebar on one of these fences and handrails (causing your front wheel to turn into it) seems so scary. Especially if there is a decent drop behind that... Obviously this man has proven he is comfortable enough to ride this stuff at speed and jump these narrow stairs. Whereas with other bike disciplines I can imagine myself riding a slower and smaller variation of what the pros do, I just can't relate to this stuff at all. Yes sure I could ride down stairs and all, but it would just be so slow it would be an entirely different skill. So yeah, I'm in awe, it is amazing. I just can't relate to it. I guess it is a bit like how some people like watching F1 car racing.
Back in the late 90’s mtb videos, anytime it was an urban setting they always had the token bystanders with that surprised/disapproving expression when a rider would bunny hop a park bench or ride down some stairs. Imagine if all of them could have seen this! Lol.
This is awesome and frightening at the same time! Max kudos to Tomas!
Not related but perhaps somebody knows: why is Pinkbike completely disconnected from Freeride Fiesta? As if there was no mindf*cking mtb event a week ago...
wow................. scary... I would need full body armor, pads all around... and a set of balls... the cost of failure is sooo high, respect for anyone with that skill set

In all seriousness, though, these always look like a blast. Wish I could try.
