Opening Day '21 in the Mammoth Bike Park

The Mammoth Bike Park is now open. The '21 season got off to a fast start this weekend, with receding snow uncovering excellent trail conditions on the lower mountain. The park opened with 13 trails. More will open shortly (very shortly) as trail crews work to clear snow off the upper mountain now that the ski/snowboard season is over. The latest on trail conditions is available on the website here

 Northstar- We can’t open, too much snow to open earlier.

Mammoth- Our base elevation is higher than the top of Northstar.

 I rode Mammoth on opening day, they got a couple inches of snow the previous weekend so the dirt was really great. It has been hotter than hell all week, so hopefully this weekend the few trails open will already be ankle deep moon dust.

 1991: My first XC race and it was at Mammoth (my avatar pic) and it was awesome. I raced the Mammoth motocross for years and never knew what pumice was until I hopped on my '87 GT Avalanche and pedaled around the ski resort.... and yes, Kamikaze was every bit as scary as they say it was. .

 It's so loose there, but it's so fun. It's just different, but you get used to it after a few runs. Pretty soft when you crash too, but wear pads! The pumice will shred ya like cheese
