@evolvo13: Seeing the Norco riders so strong on their new bikes is awesome!

Props to Haley Smith for starting in top 15! She's one to watch for sure.

Continuing to build from last seasons strong performances! Hope her luck holds during the race and she finishes strong. Go Haley! Peter's off to a great start as well. Good to see Norco at the sharp end.

Emily Batty has had her worst results since 2013 at Albstadt 2019 and None Mesto 2019. Something is definitely wrong. Whether it's burnout from 2018, adjusting to being the no. 2 female rider on the Trek Team, Keto, or some other factor/s we're not privy to.

They said during the short track broadcast that this would be Jenny Rissveds' 1st race back, but she isn't listed in the starting field. Anyone know?

Better check your short track results again.

wondering what's up with her season so far - didn't do so well in albstadt and 24th for the short-track !?

talent pool got deeper or her she didn't train as hard in the off season.... I think it was the latter.

@jaydawg69: I don't think she did well in the beginning of the year last year either. She could be looking to peak later in the year at specific races. It's too early to tell.

@clink83: she did better last year in the beginning... www.rootsandrain.com/rider85629/emily-batty/results
  • 4 3
@Luis-Sc: she has spent more time doing red bull videos on training than actual training
  • 2 0
@Luis-Sc: She's burned out from last season according to her instagram
  • 1 0
@jaydawg69: well she was 12th? at albstad then got 4th? at nove mesto. With the new course at albstad I wouldn't make any judgements until the race is over.
  • 2 2
@Luis-Sc: I was wondering the same too. She's not the alpha-blond on Trek anymore with Neff becoming her teammate this year. Might have rattled her confidence with a powerhouse like Neff on board.
  • 4 0
Because she finished 24th in the short track race.
  • 3 2
@Luis-Sc: Keto diet perhaps? Who knows? We're not her, have no insight into her goals for the season, and are not being paid by Trek to pedal bicycles. I'm sure that someone of her calibre will be back soon enough. At least she finished Albstadt unlike Anika who slinked off because it was slippery (paraphrasing her reply to Ric before the XCC)

Perhaps Trek needs a better barista?

 @LoveTheRide-Thunderbolt: maybe less social media...
