Selected by Scott Secco - That light! Nothing better than following a friend down a trail, especially when you're witnessing a magical sunset like this one.
@dirtjump132: That's like saying you have the ability to critique a photo but don't have the ability to take a photo right? When I saw it before I read it like you have the vision to do photography but not the ability to do photography... which is silly because that's like saying I'm a talented artist but my talents are untapped aka I'm full of shit.
go out and shoot more. read articles on shooting. watch video tutorials on shooting. with pinkbike, this photographer is telling you their settings on how they got this shot. if you don't know what the "photo details" section of this page means - just keep studying photography and keep on shooting!
^^^^ What this dude said. Hell, practicing with a $100 camera and just studying articles and wikipedia, really analyzing photo's like this and asking why it's so damn good, will take you pretty damn far. Once you've got proper composition down and a basic understanding of white balance, ISO, shutter speeds and apertures, then upgrade to a $300 dslr and really start trying new things, over exposing and under exposing photos on purpose, purposely bluring photos with too-slow shutter speeds, taking sunset pics like this, minus the riders, etc. Just do it, man!
@therealtylerdurden: I have a pretty decent DSLR and I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on photo composition. I just need practice with settings and all that jazz. I'd love to go on a photo adventure with a pro and have them teach me things.
