It'll have been broken already and you only noticed afterwards. I did the same to a pair of cranks and didn't notice until I took em off months after trying to hop up a flight of stairs.

Actually it's not mine, but I think that you are right. If I remember well he bought the crank used. :s

Then it might be a material failure. There is also a sign of it on the other picture.

He bought it from me,it was like new,hardly used,no scratches or anything.
