OMG ... 1. that fox 40 isn't limited edition , it has just shitty decals from ebay ... 2. the boxxer hasn't got the solo air cartridge , so it's just a team ... 3. that 888 ATA air is the biggest crap fork in the earth moves like 160 mm of 200...
Joco, your an idiot that 888 ata wc isn't crap, have you ever owned one as i've had mine for about a year and its amazing, brilliant performance at races and unbeatable reliability (when everyone else at races has to service there 40s and boxxers all the time my forks keep running as great as they did on day one) and trust me they do use there full 200mm travel as i have done (they are adjustable between 160 and 200 but if u put them on 200 then they use the 200mm)
maglor, have fun with the 888 while you can cause if you break it you cant warranty it, they dont cover anything that was raced on which i'm finding out now, i'm going to get a boxxer or 40 for next season i blew the bottom out on my 888 and apparently they wont warranty it and they dont fix the problem they just send a new one so either i ride it till its f*cked up or buy a new one. such bullshit:@
each to there own, but the i have to say that marzocchi do warranty forks that have been raced, firstly it would be utter bullshit if they didn't warranty something that broke doing what it should do (these fork are made for riding hard and racing are they not?) and secondly i had some 07 66s before the 888 and one of the cartridges wasn't working like it should (and i did race with the 66 fork) and they just took it back and fixed it straight away and it was fine after that, they weren't even bothered that they where raced or abused or anything as that's what there made for and why they cost what they do.
This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents, alteration, neglect, misuse, abuse, improper use, lack of reasonable or proper maintenance, improper assembly, repairs improperly performed, replacement parts or accessories not conforming to Marzocchi S.p.A.’s specifi cations in the Owner’s Manual or on the Website www.marzocchi.com, , modifi cations not recommended or approved in writing by Marzocchi S.p.A., activities such as acrobatics, jumping, stunt riding, ramp riding, racing, commercial use, competitive use, use in mountain biking or BMX parks, use on BMX trails, and/or normal wear or deterioration occasioned by the use of the suspension system.
sais racing isnt covered, and i'm having trouble getting my fork warrantied i already tried and apparently they marked that my fork was rushed to be shipped out for a race( it wasnt) so they know i was racing with it so it wasnt covered. i had a wheel from the same distributor that was rushed for a race cause they dicked around and took 2 weeks to ship and its usually next day delivery so i dotn know how they marked that down but its prety gay. time for a boxxer or fox 40 i guess, or i have to get good enough to be sponsored and not have to worry about warranty:P
well luckily they dont break very often + for me it doesnt matter what has happened for me they just fix it no problem, i don no what ur guys's issue is.
hey stprider, you DO know that they dont stalk you and have no f*cking clue to what youre up to right? infact, all they ask you for is whats wrong and receipts (and even i got away without a receipt)
apparently my manager mentioned that i was gonna be racing with it when it was ordered and they put it in their system, and of course when i got it sent out i wasnt there my manager was and he put down that the compression and rebound were what was messed up and those work fine and are completely independant of the bottom out the bottom out is the air pressure in the cartridge. ive just changed my settings instead of sending it off again no point now i have almost no small bump sensitivity but atleast it doesnt bottom off of something small anymore i'm buying a new fork anyways
limited edition 40's have the fork number lazer etched onto the lower crown, is it me or is that missing, the boxxer's are missing the world cup decal on the arch of the lowers and i dont see an air valve? to me the ata looks broken on the 888 or is it normally on that angle
Pretty much every kid near me with a Fox 40 bought a WC decal kit when they came out Most of the ones I see at the local trails are re-sprayed 2006 models!
888's are most reliable but i will be geting the rc3 wc not ata wc mutch better and less to go wrong with the rc3 wc,fox 40's are the best but need to be maintained the most and are most expensive to fix,the boxxers are wc's converted to coils witch is mutch more reliable as there is less to go wrong so there still wc's but without the air internals and a wc coil spring instead.
for me i think it would go 888 rc3 wc's then fox 40's then boxxers just because the 888's are the most reliable and cheepest to fix if something goes wrong plus performance wise there aint mutch between them.
I'd take an '06 888 RC (especially with some aftermarket flat crowns such as Risse Racing's offerings) over an RC3. Keep it clean and look after it well with a little less oil than reccommended and you have yourself an amazingly plush linear fork that'll keep going for years!
okay if that boxxer is a world cup then it is the lightest by a long shot (5.3 pounds) then the fox which is like (6.5) then the marzocchi which is like 6.6 and up
My photo should be POD !!!! the boxxer is the heaviest, crapest and weakest of the forks(the internals broke on me) then the 40 is just a tad heavier then the 888. i prefer the spring 40 to the air 888 but i dig the crome stanchions.
can't comment on 888 weight, but those boxxers are teams, and 40's are the lightest coil sprung forks.. so are lighter than the boxxers... also.. yumyum BOS tuned 40's
