Yep and thomson copied it from all the cheap stems of the late 80's and early to mid 90's. Don't get me wrong I think thomson puts out some of the best stuff but i have seen this design fail many times. Remember 2 bolts keeping your stem on straight or just 1. which do you prefer?
No, not exactly as Thomson design. The Thomson "old" stem design uses a two bolt system that you needed to balance torque tension between the split internal collar. This C.B. design looks like it using a similar internal clamp but with the use of a single bolt. Not the same, sorry. I question the strength around the steertube of this C.B. design with a single bolt.
