great shot eric! this is one of those photos that is inspirational and makes me want to just go shoot like this second. you have been missed in the PODs lately nice to see ya back up here
yeah thats a sick pic .. sick photography .. the tress in the backround make it add more color and make it look better and same as all of the taggs. it brightens up the picture much more and brings the biker out .. looking better
I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but as a photographer myself, this picture just isn't pod material. It's just the background on the left is too busy and distracts from the main part of the photo. No offense to the Eric though, it's still a good photo.
I don't have a problem with you saying what you think at all man & is a valid point. I personally thought that the bright colours on the right needed something on the left to balance it & add more depth, besides as an artist you want ppl to enjoy every inch of the shot & not just the rider, so once you've seen the trick there is still more to look at, but it's all subjective & you'll never please everyone with one shot, that's what makes photography fun to me.
Props for the reply man, it's good to hear someone talking about their own photo on here like that. I hope you go far with your photography, I like your attitude.
Thanks man, I teach photography & try to share that outlook with everyone. If someone doesn't like your pic it's not the end of the world & as long as they're not rude or derogatory about it, I'm always up to discuss my work. It's starting to come together slowly. Got an article in the new RIDEbmx & am so stoked on it. Need to keep pushing our scene & hopefully get to the EU & US soon to shoot with the big boys. Would be a dream come true!
Personally, I don't see it as distracting from the shot. I think the darkness of the back of the ramp/tree behind the ramp kind of forces the eye to the lit area and actally serves to frame the rider better. I think that if the tree wasn't there and the sky was undisturbed across the top half of the picture then the focus on the rider wouldn't be as intense. I like it. POD.
Yeah the bars make excellent framing for the rider. Also the way the light splits diagonally up from bottom left to top right gives a good equal composition and the rider is positioned perfectly in the frame.
Not a photographer but i do see alot of good photography being a designer, i have no cripes with the shot, there's abit going on both sides, but the lighting/focus draws me instantly to the rider...and maybe the alien head :p props for a constructive, mature and interesting read ^ .
