I'm no frame designer, but wouldn't the extra spacing give the front triangle more stiffness? If you were trying to break the headtube off the triangle, the spacing between the toptube and the downtube would give less room for the headtube to have a leverage on the top and downtubes.

 I don't think so.
95% of bikes have the tt and dt integrated together for strength. If that down tube ever failed, that top tube would rip off like nothing. Intergrating the tt and dt would give overall more surface area for the head tube to be welded to, the dt wouldent have to rely on itself alone to provide all the strength and it would share the load with the tt, therefore increasing strength and decreasing the probability of failure.
Essentially, it's the same sort of concept as having a hole on the frame, you wouldent do that, so, unless there is special bracing in the dt/ht area then why the gap?

 The idea is that whatever happens frame is not going to dent because of fork uppers hitting it. Bumper on the fork upper leg is still going to dent the frame. Now whether you want to have tits on your frame or a dent is your choice

 what if they wear down? you can just replaces fork bumpers , what about these?

 they could have atleast made them a better colour

 Ya dude, the larger diameter stanchions will limit how much you can rotate the steer-tube.

 Ya, this is just fork bumper is just for Triple clamps, cause thats what it would come with I'm guessing. But it should work with other forks like single crowns
