They aren't necessarily 'privateers'. I believe the UCI will only display your team name if you pay the team fees, so it means that teams have a choice of paying what I think is a decent 5 figure sum now to have their name shown on the lists, or don't.

Revel Bikes to Shut Down Amid Industry Challenges

@Mtbdialed: that's not how it works. The goods will be sold ex-works, so as soon as it leaves the factory warehouse in China/Taiwan it's Revel's problem. If it costs 10k more to ship to the US, Revels problem, if it costs 100k in tariffs, Revels problem. And it's the taxman that's coming after yhem for payment in the US, not some factory in the far east. Tough times ahead for US bike companies, we hope everyone at Revel is fortunate enough to move quickly to their next thing.
