Is the Free Ride Over?
Freeride marketing might be dead, since it's such a loose term.
And no, freeride doesn't mean riding whatever bike/wherever/however... maybe let's call my 8 year old neighbour kids on Huffy's freeriders too, since they're just riding around...umm freely?
I grew up making trails and shredding/learning to shred too, but I wish I could call myself a freerider, let alone a racer....
That's why it's not easy to market. And freeride might just be another marketing name.

Empire Cycles MX-6 Press Release
eff nasa, eff 6061, the real stuff is my Soviet Space Program-grade frame. it's very stiff torsionally, while adding bilateral corsional treble flex. it uses an eight piece structure for added lightweight-edness, to be able to pedal.

Twenty Nine Inches of Shrew
Dont give a monkeys if i get bashed, but 29 is just a fad to me, that will hopefully pass. Working in a bike shop, I can say, the majority are still designed as if they were 26, that is, as if normal frame fitted on big wheels... Stupid clearances, weird handling.. WHY OH WHY? Thats like doing road races with 26" (lets start to find advantages for it). Its just an unnecessary monstrosity. People will start coming up with reasons, like, oh yeah, it rolls over stuff easier, well, pedal harder and you will find that just about any wheel size will roll over stuff just easy enough.
I can see its places though. Grandpa style singletrack or off roading touring...
Cool video though!
