@yoimaninja: From what I had heard when the test event happened, the local dirt can get super sloppy and borderline unrideable with heavy rain, so they wanted to have something a little more rideable in case rain did hit. If they could have guaranteed a dry event, they would have left it dirt, but they didn't want to risk an Olympic event turning into a sloppy hike-a-bike.

@nrloewen: I'd guess he's standing on the pedals with the saddle fully down for almost all, if not all, of that stage. He might sit down briefly in a couple smooth sections for a few seconds of rest for the legs, but you have way better control and ability to absorb bumps if you stand up in attack position and get the saddle down and out of the way.

Must Watch: Elite Men's Winning Run POV from the Les Gets DH World Cup 2024
@commental: I've got my chrome window in full-screen already. The video aspect ratio is the same as my screen, so tabs at the top of my screen and the taskbar at the bottom means a full-width imbedded video gets cut off. If you have to make the video full-screen to view it properly, it defeats the point of an imbedded video

Full-width videos don't work well for desktop users. The only way to not have the video vertically clipped is to either full-screen the video or watch it on youtube, which defeats the point of an imbedded video. I can't imagine that many mobile users are watching the video in anything but full-screen, so the full-width imbedded setup doesn't benefit anyone.

Review: Canyon Lux Trail - Mellow Marathon Machine
@Austin014: I think some of it comes from the more aggressive seated position. Being in more of a sprint-like posture makes it feel right to pedal hard, whereas a more upright, relaxed posture feels more right for taking it slow and easy.
