Interview: Isla Short on Her ADHD Diagnosis, Developing a Privateer Setup & Breakthrough World Cup Results
I tend to agree and that’s because I was diagnosed right at the start of this massive uptick in the amount of people being diagnosed with ADHD myself. I certainly think I fit the bill to be diagnosed with what they call ADHD but I don’t know if the way it’s being treated is helpful or if it’s really understood at all. Within 2 years my sister in law, one of my close friends from school, my running buddies and loads more people I know were being diagnosed.
IMO “ADHD” is a consequence of the world we live in and not really a condition as such. I can’t help but think the massive increase in distraction caused by 24/7 phone connectivity is a large part of it. Also, humans were not meant to work in offices doing the same thing over and over and over. We live in such an in natural way to how we evolved over the years that I think it’s no wonder many of us are basically bored and under-stimulated. School is such an uninteresting and difficult environment for kids who are extremely active or creative minded.
I definitely think the pharma and medical industry is far too quick to label it a disorder that you can medicate away (which works for some people) rather than acknowledging the system’s of the world just aren’t set up to accommodate for how a large part of the world thinks.
I was talking to a friend from Moldova and he told me that he was educated in a sports school ie. A school heavily focused on sports and activity every single day. I would absolutely have thrived in a school like that but I ended up in a school which did 1 40 minute PE class a week. But the people who tend to gravitate towards bureaucracy and making the decisions about these things are exactly the type of people who do not have ADHD type behaviors.

Cam Zink Recovering From Six Broken Ribs & Collapsed Lung After Rampage Crash
@scott-townes: it’s not exactly saving lives or rocket science though is it? These guys (Gee/Cam) are almost 40 and they are still out there trying to jump off slightly bigger things…wow impressive.
There’s a certain lack of ambition and intelligence if the only thing you can think of doing is a slight variation on what you’ve been doing for 30 years already. It just seems a bit sad that this is the height of their ambition or abilities. There is surely much more these guys could be doing with their lives.

[UPDATED] Elite Final Results & Overall Standings from the Val di Sole DH World Cup 2024
@Clem-mk: isn't it crazy the way Troy Brosnan has never been in contention for an overall really. He's had a very outside chance but never really been one of the top contenders. His consistency doesn't really seem to get rewarded.

Elite Qualifying Results from the Fort William DH World Cup 2024
I haven't really been following dh this year. Is Gwin retired now or what is he at? Bit of a bummer to see him and Sam Hill go out on a low/injured if they are both retiring.

Yet, so many people on here were in favour of lockdowns...
I still can't get over the sheer number of people who thought that closing everything down for 2 full years wouldn't utterly destroy the world economy. So much damage was done during those covid years.

Once it can maintain its erect position and not keep dropping down then that is more important than the length of it's stroke.
