Manuel Fumic's Cannondale Scalpel Si - Cairns XC World Champs 2017
@zutroy: but most of these are people that haven't won since U23 or even podium'd in most cases. Not saying that doesn't make them world class athletes as anyone who can make a long term carrier of racing deserves respect. It's just almost seemed like articles have been targeted at previous U23 winners the last few weeks and previously hadn't hardly seen it mentioned in the several years of daily PB reading.

What's up with all the little features on riders and their bikes for riders who specifically won in the U23 class 10 years ago over the last couple weeks? Not really complaining, just there seemed like a lot of article specifically mentioning U23 class wins from the 2000-2010 and wasn't sure why the sudden influx.

Pinkbike Poll: Is It Still a Mountain Bike If It Has a Motor?
@WAKIdesigns: same people who sketch up all the other exceptions under the American disability act (guild dogs in no pet areas, unconventional vehicle controls, electric wheelchair inside building and pedestrian sidewalks, and the list goes on). Those still remain exceptions to the rule and not standards to keep things in line. Can you imagine walking into a store with everyone flying around on electric scooter with their dogs next to them? They're would be blanket bands and those with disabilities would loose their privileges as well.

5 Questions I Want Answered - Opinion
Oh, but will a long lasting, low maintenance design hurt new bike sales and therefore there component suppliers sales, yes. That'll be the ultimate reason that gearboxes won't be persued and taken to where they could.

I think the ironic part is saying how all these new standards are necessary to move forward, suck it up, we can't be so resistant to change, or current standards were once new and met with resistance...But gearbox is a separate issue. Not necessary to move forward, change isn't necessary, resist it, what we have (which has been optimized for decades) is better than this current stage of new application of what is the staple in most every other transportation sector therefore it shouldn't be persued. Forget the suspension aspect of have huge rear range to try and compensate for in suspension movement. That's for the bike engineers to figure out a compromise for. Are they as good as good as they need to be, no. Do they have potential to perform at an equal level from an efficiency stand point while being much less vulnerable, more reliable, have less maintenance, decrease suspension sprung weight, and allow constant chainline, yes. Just because it's not there yet doesn't mean it shouldn't be persued.

@bkm303: I think Ikubica meant no new product development for 26". No new wider rims, no new tire designs. 'Most' companies are only doing new product development of 27.5" and 29".

Canyon Set to Launch in the USA
Agreed. Ghost is the only German brand who's prices have gone significantly up in the US, but arguable due mostly to abandoning direct sales in the US.

Pinkbike Poll: Do You Remember Your First 'Real' Mountain Bike?
GT Avalanche 3.0. Had a Walmart Mongoose full suspension that I had been riding around town for years. Broke it the first 2 outings on single track but was hooked and went out to buy what I thought was the most expensive bike I'd ever be willing to purchase. I now have an fsr stumpjumper...

Finals Results - Cairns DH World Cup 2016
I am curious why Gwin was struggling at the top all weekend. Horrible first splits in practice, qualifying and finals. He always made up a huge chunk of it, but never the whole thing. Glad for Bruni though. Seems like a genuinely nice guy whose really been pushing himself. He earned it!

I Say "E-bike", You Say... - Sea Otter 2016
I think the biggest thing is that ebikes require pedal input to be classified as ebike and they're electric motorcycles if they use a throttle, therefore those who would potentially benefit from the disabled argument most likely cannot pedal them. It's about getting money from lazy people.
