Why is the engagement point count such a random number? Kings engage every 5 degrees, but these engage every 1.76 degrees :\

360 divides nicely in half to give 180, but if you want to have more engagements than 180 or less than 360 you'll find each engagement will fall somewhere between 1 and 2 degrees, hence you found 1.76

I hope they put up a video of the loudness. My Pro II's are about the limit I could handle but they're very useful to get pedestrians attention when cycling through London.

surely it will just buzz abit like a chris king? my pro2 trials engages 48 times per spin and it buzzes at about 20-25mph, this has 4 times the engagements what the hell! i want one hahaha

Killer hubs, killer pricetag. The prices are listed on the profile website. I think the rear was like 450$ or something. Shame, they discontinued the cheaper hubs (300$) for these.

yeah the ss hub does sounds like a cross between a normal loud bmx hub and a king. its the same buzzy noise but a little lower pitch and more aggressive than the king pawl sound

The six pawls are in 3 pairs. each pair offset slightly. Each pair engages into the 68 teeth in the ring in turn. the 3 pairs engaging into 68 teeth at differant times gives the 204 engagements.

i dunno .204 points of engagement.hmmmm. the engagement points must be very very tiny and even if there is six pawls im not sure they`le take alot of heavy abuse , but having said that im also pretty sure profile know exactly what they are doing eh.. my hadley has 72 points and sounds like a screaming cat so i cant wait to hear those bad boys set loose!!!..

Six pawls and three theeth on each pawl.
It makes 18 contact points.
Even if teeth on the hub body are tiny, the strain resulting from the torque is divided by 18.
Not so bad no ?

preparing myself to be shot down here, and just realised my last comment was majorly wrong. quote from above:

the pawls are offset so one set of pawls will engage after the other. ie only one set of pawls is engaged during a pedal stroke

first off, i cba to go find links. you have a hub with 68 teeth and 6 pawls. suppose the pawls were not offset, the 6 would engage at the same time and give 68 engagements in one full turn of the freehub. if you offset the pawls slightly so there's 2 of the six engaging at a time, each of those pairs will engage 68 times in one full turn of the freehub, 3 pairs = 68x3 = 204 engagement points.

dont bother looking at or taking into account my first reply, it was wrong. im leaving with that, no idea where these extra 12 teeth came from

If your going to school me, you better have references that support you statement. Because I like looking at information for the engineers that designed that component. Then form a person that thoroughly studied all the internet forums that claims such and such.

Are you just bashing on this product, because you are pissed off. That you spent way too much money for your chris kings. That have lower points of engagement

I've got a set of these on my BlkMrkt and they are so loud! They definitely turn heads, by sound alone - my friends call them the "angry bees". The engagement is just wild. Very highly recommended!

The laser etched logo on their front hub has been etched on upside down (see first photo for most obvious). Not the biggest mistake in the world but it does remind you that profile haven't a 100% clean QC record. Definitely no King or Indy9 quality. But at least they're not another damn Hope.

Not 100% was putting it lightly to not be a complete hater. Companies can clean up their act, but Profile still have a way to go before I'd be buying a hub like this that requires tolerances to actually be kept.

It's the wrong way, disk mount on the left hand side, the logo should be readable from the riders perspective. And even still, it's been etched the opposite way to the rear hub in the same picture. Go figure...

i own the hubs for bmx and can honestly say they are far from chris king. they have the anodize colors which are nice but they ripped of industry nines design and made it cheaper and eventual develop a bit of drag do to poor machining on the spacing inside. also the tend to skip ever so often cause of the way the springs are inside. Love mine but would not buy them a secod time.

If they're anything like the new profile BMX hubs, these are gonna be crazy expensive. I believe the rear hub of the bmx version ran for $650 USD !!!!! Overall, excellent quality and will last a lifetime.

I have the SS Elite on my Dobermann, with Ti axle, Driver, and bolts, and it was 840$ retail... Nicest hub I've ever come across though. Super loud and crisp. Profile's quality is undeniable... Wish the 15mm front was available though when I bought the rear.
