5 Things We Learned at the Snowshoe DH World Cup 2019
Essential to watch Danny's POV footage of his winning run to see just how much we missed on the TV. Great footage and the madness at the end was even better. The best thing is the respect among the riders. They are genuinely happy to see their competitors do well. In the background you can see TB giving DH the thumbs up with a massive grin. Great race, couldn't have written the plot any better! Take that EWS!

First Look: Box One Prime 9 - A Wide Range, 9-Speed Drivetrain
@phops: With gearing like that you're clearly not pedalling up much. A lot of us do and need the range up the other end. I rarely use my 11 cog for the ascending/descending here in Adelaide.

First Look: Box One Prime 9 - A Wide Range, 9-Speed Drivetrain
@phops: I have a spot on one of my rides where I can hit 70kph on dirt 32T and 11T - I can tell you I'm never still pedalling when I do it. And it's not mega steep. How fast and big do you need to go at bike parks?

First Look: Box One Prime 9 - A Wide Range, 9-Speed Drivetrain
For those complaining about a lack of XD driver compatible, remember that shit only happened because SRAM wanted to put more gears on than you need, with a tiny 10 tooth cog. Let's face it, if your'e going that fast on dirt, you're likely not pedalling anyway. Throw that XD gash in the bin like I just did and upgrade to less gears. Throw the entire GX line in there while you're at it. When I first went 1x drivetrain (about 4/5 years ago) it was with a 9 speed SLX/XT set up and 11-32 cassette. I liked it and if could have had a wider range, like the 11-42 or 46 that came out for 10 or 11 speed, I'd have been all over it. The numbers on this look great and if the price comes down, it'll be my next drivetrain. Shimano take note, make something like this, it will sell like hot cakes. No custom drivers, with SLX price and durability please.

Video: Myles Rockwell Takes His Beer Cooler for a Shred
@autechre: Fully aware he was DH WC 20 seasons ago. But when someone introduces themselves as "world champion" anything, they sound like a tool. I'm betting multiple champs like, Rachel Atherton, Greg Minnar, Steve Peat and co don't say, "Hello, I'm Rachel Atherton, DH world champion." He may have been trying to sound like a tool for the ad, I don't know. But he succeeded either way.

Just like Danny, only instantly dislikeable, not funny or entertaining and 1% of the effort put in that DM puts into his work.

What Martin Maes' UCI Suspension Means for the Overall EWS Standings
@islandforlife: Agreed, it's a banned substance and could be used to hide some dodgy practices. Except in this case it was genuinely used to help an athlete that was in serious trouble with a serious injury. Regardless of what happened after, the bodies that are there to prevent foul play should be able to recognise genuine medical requirement for something and make an exemption. There are genuine cheating turds out there who get away with it via various loopholes - kissing a girlfriend is just one of them. But genuine athletes get pinged for genuine situations. So it is a sh!t system.

What Martin Maes' UCI Suspension Means for the Overall EWS Standings
I really hope Martin Maes goes to the DH World Champs now and wipes the floor with some of my heroes. Then wipes his ar5e on the UCI jersey in protest.

What Martin Maes' UCI Suspension Means for the Overall EWS Standings
@islandforlife: Nope. In the same situation this could've happened to any rider in the series. Or any MTB series come to that. A rider faced with legit situation that could affect his/her life forever, being told by an event doctor (that wasn't his own!) to take something, will take it. Where there is clearly a medical requirement and no advantage gained, the UCI and WADA should have a procedure to clear an athlete. And what's with letting someone continue after a positive test? Efforts for two rounds go to sh!t? Ridiculous. The whole thing stinks for Martin Maes and his closest competitors. Plus the guy now has a "doping" mark against him, when all he's done is be an amazing rider doing great things for MTB. The UCI and WADA suck d!ck with things like this. They have no credibility because they let genuine cheats off the hook, while genuine athletes get punished.
